Just when you need it most, your furnace gives you the cold shoulder. Unfortunately, this is a common scenario for homeowners across Portland and The Dalles who call us for emergency furnace repair. Furnaces tend to fail during the coldest time of year when they're used the most. Talk about bad timing!
Known for professional electric and gas heating installation and repair in the Portland area, Sky is also a leading heater maintenance provider. Seasonal maintenance is recommended before cold weather arrives. We know that emergency furnace repairs are most often needed on the coldest days and nights.
It's always cooler in the sky. So when something goes wrong with your air conditioning, we're ready to swoop in and bring the cool right to your doorstep! We provide comprehensive AC services for central air conditioners, heat pumps, geothermal systems, mini-splits-you name it. If you rely on it to beat the summer it, then we service it.

I really liked the service technician and think he did a good job for what he came out for - to fix my toilets. But I'm not sure I'd use them again. Before I even knew what might be wrong with the toilets, I was getting information about membership perks (a subscription of some sort that saves you money). And the way the service options were listed weren't very optimal.
Instead of saying "we can try this and if doesn't work we can try this, " it was a list of three packages that included some services that I might not even need (like replacing parts before they go bad). I'm fine with options, but too many options aren't helpful to me. The real turn off was the "complimentary water heater inspection" which just turned into another sales pitch.
I agreed to the inspection - that's a nice service - but it turned into a quote I didn't ask for or want. He also put a Sky sticker on the water heater and fuse box without asking if it was okay or if I wanted it, so now I have advertisements for their service I didn't want. It's hard when you like somebody who's doing the work and I liked the plumber.
And I'm assuming the company requires a lot of what I'm explaining, but if I call a service to fix my toilets and it turns into a water heater quote I didn't want or ask for, I don't feel like a customer you care about, I feel like a customer you're just trying to sell more stuff to. And that's why I probably won't use them again.

Ryan was the technician that came to do annual maintenance on my air conditioning unit. He was very professional and pleasant. He explained step by step in advance all that he was going to do during the maintenance. He cleaned the outside air conditioning unit beautifully. In all my dealing with him he was well spoken, forth-coming and knowledgeable. I felt I was in good hands with him as the technician.

Diagnostic call. The information that Brian related in the diagnosis of my AC was very complete. I have some experience in mechanical and electrical equipment after thirty plus years repairing medical equipment for a local health care system. Brian's candor was very much appreciated and the kind of complete service that is not common these days. I was genuinely impressed with his professionalism and knowledge of every aspect of my AC system. This will make it easy to make my decision about future repairs. Thanks Brian

Kenny M and his assistant Dan B did an excellent job, they were an amazing duo and worked well with one another. They were professional, courteous, hardworking and did very thorough job. Kenny M was especially a stand-out.a stellar worker with strong work ethic and outstanding people-customer service skills. He kept my husband and I well informed and educated on Sky's products, services and our options. Kenny explained well when we had questions, took project photos before and after, even short videoclip. Thank you Kenny and Dan, keep up the great work!

Sky Heating has a great crew and I could tell they represent a company with a good culture. The initial tech showed up on time and was very thorough and helpful. The Sales guy gave me a ton of options and was very personable and honest. The installers were on time, professional and easy to work with. They trained me on my heating system and on my Honeywell Home app as well. I feel safe with the work they've done. Everyhing is working great and they left no mess behind. In regards to contractors, I would definitely recommend them.

We have had two outstanding installations at our home. Big thank you to Mico, who came out to survey and set up the contract. Also a big thank you to Kelly, Jesse, Braxton, Eric, Enrique, and Dan who swarmed my house this morning and got everything installed. Excellent work! Our first heat pump was installed in the garage, which is half shop and half gym.
We had that done last October so we would be able to use the space all winter. We get out there about 10 minutes in advance of when we want to start work, set the heat, and when we are ready so is the garage. Toasty and perfect! I'm sure when we need to cool it down this summer it will be just as efficient. Today's job (April) was in anticipation of another apocalyptic heat event this summer. It's getting hotter every summer, though, and it doesn't need to be 116 to want to push some cold air through the living spaces.
We now have a split that cools the living room and the bedroom right above it. The units look clean and unobtrusive. Kelly and Jesse were careful in my home, put down covers on nearby furniture and carpet, and cleaned up after. They took the time to show me what they were doing, and how cutting through the wall in a different place, for example, would be something I needed to decide.
After listening to them explain things, it was easy to make choices. The outside parts were installed up high on the side of the house, clear of hats and cars, with well placed conduit to make it look tidy. Braxton did the electrical, and he was super careful to let me know how he was going to place the new connections - it required some deconstruction.
He was also patient when I asked about the circuit breakers - explained some things I was not aware of. After the installation last October (also Kelly and Braxton), I didn't hesitate to book Sky for this larger job. These men are clearly experts in what they do. I can't install a curtain rod without two trips to the hardware store, a string of salty words, and a bandaid on my hand.
There was NONE OF THAT with this crew. They came in, surveyed, set up, got it done. And it works great! The units are quiet and efficient. Portland weather is in flux, friends, and it's getting hotter in the summer every year. I read that one third of the homes in this city don't have air conditioning, but you are definitely going to need it.
We could have upgraded our forced heat to include cool air, but it made more sense for us to use these splits in a couple of rooms instead of trying to cool all three floors (1, 2, and a basement). Now we can control the climate in the space we are in the most, instead of the spaces we seldom spend much time in. Read up on Daikin systems and see what you think.

Adrian, Cody and Jacob arrived this morning to complete a myriad of electrical tasks. They kept us fully informed of the progress, walked us through what they had done and did an absolutely wonderful job! They did such a thorough job and took the time to clean each area once they were done. Highly recommend all three and Sky for your electrical needs, will be back when we're ready for our next set of projects. Thank you so much :

I have used Sky Heating for at least 20 years. They do regular maintenance on my gas furnace. I decided to get a mini split unit for my cottage and add an AC unit to my furnace. I got my quote a week ago and in less than a week I had my new units installed and I'm ready for the hot weather. I didn't get other quotes because I trust Sky Heating and have always had good luck with them. Nico helped me decide what to have installed in a very friendly not pushy manner, and helped me figure out financing.
Today I had a great E team, Eric and Earl who got my units installed, and also the electricians (I can't remember their names) Eric and Earl both helped me understand how to operate the new units and answered any questions I had. I am so happy with the new thermostat that goes along with the AC unit and heater.

I received a feedback here from the business about their policy when it comes to moving things in the garage. My response to him is, I should have been informed when I made the appointment. The technicians telling me elling me after the work was done that they will come back later to put the stuff back, then not getting any calls after my calling several times later to get updates is not good customer service. You tell the customer at the beginning what your policy is, not after the fact.

They did a great job putting in recess lighting, wiring some central lights, upgrading my panel and putting in a transfer switch. Leane was a great communicator. Braxton was an excellent leader and took time to think through and problem solve trouble with my old wiring system and Cody was a knowledgeable and experienced apprentice. Im happy to have them as a resource. Thanks Sky!

2/17/22 I am adding an edit to this original post in response to the Owner comments. Everything he said is true, and inline with my post. Unfortunately, their only remedy was exactly what I stated below. No repair possible, only expensive complete replacement of my HVAC system. He also does not acknowledge the tactics of their "Sales Rep" in my home. I've owned several homes and rental properties and never had a Sale Rep for a contractor come to an inspection. Also, they told me the Credit Check was a "soft check that would not trigger Credit Agencies", that was not true.
Their Cus. Ser, person did contact me by phone, I left a message as there was no answer. I would gladly post their resolution, if there is one. This is not my first unscrupulous encounter with a large company in Portland. And Ive only been working on this house for 9 mos. This is long, but perhaps worth the time Well, I read the good reviews and the not so good reviews.
At this point, I feel obligated to post my experience with this company. I came home in the evening, Dec 7th, 2021,m y house and my little dog were freezing. My heater stopped working, and I could not get it restarted. I made several calls, of course no one was available. I admit the advertising and flashy ads for Sky got me to call them for service.
I was quoted $159 for the service call, which of course would be posted to my final bill as a credit. I want to point out that this large service fee does two things, 1) it makes you feel like you're going to have a big credit on your final bill 2) it makes it financially impossible, for most people, to get multiple quotes. I usually get three quotes on any large project.
The service tech was available quickly, as I'd gone with heat for 7 days at this point. He was friendly, followed all COVID restrictions, he appeared to know what he was talking about. He told me the heater was done for, the A/C was also crap and, if I would like their "Sales Mgr." to come out to talk to me about my options, he could be there that afternoon. Great.
The first thing I did was call a friend, a male, to come over to ya know make sure this salesperson did not mistake this hip, but little old lady for someone who could be duped. I will keep this direct. Have you ever gone to one of those used car places with $500 and driven away with a $40k car? I have never felt so pressured by way of shame and gentle threats in my entire life.
The old "get it now while its on sale, sign now so I don't have to come all the way back, lugging all this paperwork, and of course we can get you a line of credit", even though I said no. I went along with it because frankly, I just wanted him to see that all though I have money, I don't have a credit cards or debt therefore no credit approval for the $36K HVAC system whose brand I'd never heard of, ever.
Nor had my friends who'd been in the business for 45 yrs. (they don't live here so no I couldn't use them) In fairness they do offer 2 other less expensive alternatives but try make you feel bad for not getting the best. He was very slick, and they cover their behinds well, I asked him to leave so I could make the right decision maybe get another quote.
He was not going easily but did eventually. I began to get slaughtered with emails. I called another company, someone local, who as it turned out, had not only worked on the house before, but went to school with the previous owner. He fixed my heater for $375. Sky refused to return my Service Fee. Moral: never have a Service Call that cost more than $75. Always get 3 quotes. Ask friends, and read the reviews.

We worked with three different people as part of this furnace purchase and installation. Don came out to do our initial repair on our old furnace and was very good about explaining what the issue was and how he fixed it. He also recommended looking into new furnaces as ours was 32yrs old! Randy came out and did the evaluation + quote and was great.
He gave us our options and explained which he though was best with no jargon. Didn't feel any pressure to buy something we didn't need and knew exactly what we were getting ourselves into after making a decision. Eric handled our installation. He was fast and got his work done in the timeframe he gave us. He also helped set up our new thermostat and explained the work he did and what he'd recommend we do in terms of regular maintenance in order to make sure our unit lasts as long as possible. A+ service all around.

We were their last project before they left town here in central Oregon. Very poor install and we had to call in someone else to fix the mistakes. They failed to caulk their penetrations and we had a terrible mice and rat problem for over a year. Since the holes have been secured that problem has gone away. None of the heat ducts were secured in holes they cut and that left air gaps that needed to be fixed.
A few hours of detail work would have cured all of these issues. We called for service and they referred us to an old competitor. Couldn't cash the check and get out of town fast enough. That was over two years ago and my view hasn't changed. Good luck with these folks.

I called Sky to schedule a plumbing bid. They charge $59 to come out (to earn your business) and will refund it if you use them. Wow. On top of that, Christina would only schedule during their time, so I would have had to take time off work to accommodate them. They must really be hard up for money, or don't want the business. I used this company a couple of years ago, spent $8500 for a furnace and a/c unit, and they wanted to charge me $59 to earn my business this time.
So much for honoring your prior clients! Oh, and the hvac rep never did follow through on his promise to come back to check they hvac system and program the thermostat. Huh, I should have known better not to call them to start with.

Brian H. did an amazing job at diagnosing the issue with our furnace. I would highly recommend the quality of his work. He answered all of our questions and explained somethings we didn't know. Brandon checked the installation of new light switches to make sure they were properly wired. He also gave a courtesy check of the electrical panel and provided an estimate on an outlet installation in the garage as well as a couple of other minor projects. He was patient and took time to explain how he would approach some additional project ideas I had for my house, for example the addition of recessed lighting in the living room.
The cost to install additional dimmer and timer switches was more than I anticipated (around $600 for a handful of light switches, and that's with me supplying the parts), but I will keep them in find for the more complex projects.

We scheduled with Sky Heating to have the furnace serviced and to have the Nest thermostat. The Nest thermostat had been giving us odd messages and saying that it couldn't control some of the equipment in the system. Jason found a problem with thermostat wiring while servicing the furnace so both work fine now. He finished his work sooner than I expected and gave me a thorough debriefing of what he found including a complete set of photos.
The pictures were very helpful. He identified several things that we need to consider to keep the furnace operating well. I found him to be very knowledgeable, professional and personal throughout. We will continue to use Sky Heating for our HVAC service.

Randy, Gabe and the whole team were great. On the initial visit to assess options to replace a gas furnace at the end of its life with a heat pump, Randy spent a great deal of time answering all of our questions with as much detail as we liked and was responsive to additional emails leading up to the installation day. On the install day, the project was a larger process than we expected, with lots of crew.
Everyone was professional, respectful about wearing masks and careful about closing doors at our request, to keep our neurotic cats from trying to hide in the attic. Clearly folks were taking steps to follow high standards, and it was much appreciated. We felt throughout the process that we were getting reliable information and that the team was using good judgement on our behalf and was attentive to quality and customer service.
At the end of a long install day, Gabe talked to us about proper handling and maintenance for the unit and went through steps for using the new thermostat. We've only had the unit for 1 day, but so far it's been great - quieter than our old equipment with a noticeable improvement in distributing heat more evenly throughout the house. Thanks to the whole team!

Got to share how awesome it is working with the people at Sky Heating. My first engagement was with Charlie. He came to the house and did a thorough review of our furnace and A/C. He asked about our needs and came back with several options to replace both units. His knowledge and expertise was impressive. Although we did get other quotes, we went with Sky.
Super happy with that choice. Today it was all installed. Eric and his team did a fantastic job. This group is very experienced and know what they're doing. They worked really hard and got all the old stuff out and new equipment installed and up & running. I really like how Sky leverages technology to communicate with me and how they monitor my equipment. Great job team Sky!

Service was on point. Really appreciated the communication leading up to the appointment. Getting sent a text before the appointment so that I knew exactly who to expect was stellar, and a first for me when engaging in services with other companies. Kenny M. was clear in describing pricing structure, and most importantly what he did actually fixed the issue. I am warm because of him, and I appreciate that immensely!

I made an appointment with Sky for next week, but the dispatcher found a sooner appointment. Jason came out, and was on time, Covid conscious, and super friendly! He was extraordinarily knowledgeable, and gave me 6 options for the repairs that could be done. There was no pressure to upsell, but there was clear explanation why all 6 were necessary. He was quick, clean, and super kind. I'm very impressed with the service, and intend on using them for future needs! Thank you for keeping me warm!

We have used this company since 2014 when we had them replace our very old Lennox furnace with a new Trane. We also signed a service contract with them with monthly payments. We were very pleased initially, there was a problem with the igniter on the then-brand-new furnace during a cold snap, and they came out multiple times very promptly (apparently it was a problem with failing Trane part).
They also replaced our A/C unit earlier this year and that went great (and right before the 115-degree days fortunately for us). So they came out yesterday for routine maintenance on the furnace, and the technician (Jason) said even before doing the service that he was going to give me 6 options as to what to do for service -- so before looking at the unit he knew that something would need to be done?
At the end, he said that our blower wheel may need to be cleaned -- not urgent -- that would be $540. Then a bunch of other options, all of which included a surge protector (I told him we had surge protector for the house, he said that this would be a back-up in case it failed), right up to sealing all the ducts for $6,000. I initially had him schedule the blower wheel cleaning, but in thinking about it, he said that it would take at most 2 hours, it seemed very expensive.
I checked online, and people were complaining that companies wanted even $400 for this, and there were YouTube videos on how to do it. So I called a couple of other local companies and got estimates in the $300 to $400 range. I called Sky back, was told by the receptionist that they were a "premium company", and then I talked to Jason who said that that was their hard price for the service and he does a great job.
In reading the Yelp reviews, people either love this company, or complain about rip-off prices and lack of call-backs. I guess we are somewhere in between, but I was quite bothered by the hard sell, and the idea that we would need something done to the system even before looking. Ultimately we decided not to get the blower wheel cleaned at this time because it was not that dirty or urgent, but are trying to determine what to do at this point. We still have the service contract.

I have hired Sky multiple times in the past 5 years and have future appointments booked, as well. Every time I call to inquire about an estimate, someone always answers the phone and promptly schedules ~ the day before the appointment I receive a text message or email reminder and the day of, I've always received a heads up when the technician is on the way.
I especially like that I'm sent the full name(s) of the technician(s) as well as a picture and bio of who will be doing the work or giving the estimate. Sky has a fantastic team! So far, Eric, Jeff, Grant and Chris have all completed work at my Piano Studio. These technicians have extensive training, are kind, respectful, extremely knowledgeable in their fields, explain all options very clearly and email a detailed quote with several options to choose from.
There is no pressure to purchase. They simply state the various options, point out the differences between their products and patiently re-explain if needed. Every question I have is answered thoroughly. The peace of mind Sky continues to provide is wonderful - knowing if anything ever goes wrong with the equipment they've installed, their maintenance team will be out for a prompt and trouble-free fix. They are very honest and dependable. Highly recommend. ~ Happy Customer

My husband and I would give more than 5 stars if possible! Our service person, Don Wilkinson, did a phenomenal job repairing our AC. He explained all aspects of the repair, and answered all our questions. We will stay with Sky Heating & AC for all of our service needs, and also hope to see Don again when we need maintenance and any repairs that come up in the future. Thank you Don! Thank you Sky! Did I mention that the prices are fair? They are, and we are more than satisfied with our whole experience! D. & C. Simpson

We recently had our central air installed and these guys were so awesome. They arrived on time and worked quickly to get the job done. Everyone was kind, respectful and courteous while in our home. They cleaned everything up and left no mess for us. Before leaving they ensured that the air was in fact working well and took time to check the upstairs vents and filter.
Even the consult was impressive. The gentleman was running late but instead of canceling he came out in the evening. I was so appreciative of his time and kindness. He even had treats for our dogs! I couldn’t be happier! Highly recommend.

Poor customer service. Got the run around from multiple receptionists. First was told could get service the same day. The next person said they weren't able to come out until the July. Then it changed to September. Totally disorganized. (Make sure you call between 8 and 5 because apparently the call center has no idea what the company policies are.) I'd recommend going elsewhere. I am!

Sky has GREAT customer service, everyone I spoke to on the phone was very nice and quick to get questions answered. Charlie who came out to give me a quote was great he was thorough and gave me multiple options and explained them clearly and did not make me feel pressured into making a decision. The team that came out and did the installation were all nice and did a great job at communicating through the process. They also left my garage space cleaner than when they came in.

Kenny McDonald did an amazing job with our heater and air conditioning. He explained everything and was very nice. We will ask for him again to come out if needed. He emailed everything to me so I could see the break down and I could print it out. Thank you Kenny for such great work. Sky Heating and Cooling are the best. We wouldn't have any other company come out. We are so happy now. We want Kenny only. : Terry and Sandi Leiby

All team members were wearing masks which my wife and I appreciated. Our installation was a little more complex than originally planned so we had a couple of days without heat as the furnace was being replaced. The installers were great though and kept open communication so we knew what to expect. The new system was installed very clean and our ductwork got some much needed attention.
The baseline pressure test showed a leakage of 137cfm! The team was able to bring that back down to 9cfm of loss. Grant and Mario worked late to make sure we had running hot water and heat in the house until the final parts could arrive a few days later. I also have to give kudos to the team for the positive attitude they still had even after spending all day down in the crawl space (it is a very tight space that had 30 years of debris, spider webs, and dead mice in it). We still cannot believe how much duct leakage was repaired and how quiet the new Bosch unit is! Thanks so much

Enrique and Abel came out right on time to install our AC and upgrade our furnace. Both of them were very kind and courteous. Abel had to leave Enrique in charge and he saw the whole install all the way through and was very thorough in explaining the details and maintenance points of the system. Would recommend

Very satisfied with Sky Heating. Charlie came out to look at my ancient, 23 year old furnace and discuss options. Answered all my questions and after talking with him I decided to go with Sky Heating. He made the sale. Eric came out to replace the furnace and Thermostat and proved to me I had made the right choice. Would recommend them in a heart beat. Arie P.

The appointments were quick. The person on the phone pleasant to talk to. The technicians texted 20 minutes before coming so we could be home Both Brian and Morgan were very knowledgable in the work. They were professional and they took the necessary care for covid. Both of them called after the work was done and gave an accurate update since I was not there, someone else was.
They helped me understand the problem and suggested solutions not just to fix the issue but in regard to future problems too. I had a pkeasant experience with how the repair was handled.

From the original phone call inquiry with Ash (Ashley Matthew's), to the friendly and informative home consultation/quote with the Design Engineer Charlie.to the scheduling (and having to reschedule because our thermostat wasn't going to get here on time) with Kelley, all the way to the impressively on-time and professional installation with Abel & his crew.
I COULD NOT have asked for a more painless and streamlined process. Everyone was so personable and accommodating, and I would recommend Sky to anyone needing HVAC work. We will definitely be calling them again when it's time for us to upgrade to a tankless water heater!

We were so impressed with our recent experience with Sky Heating. We noticed a few nights ago that an alarm had gone off on our furnace (and standing water) so we had to call them after hours. They immediately put us in touch with someone who had great advice to ease our concerns. Don was the technician to help us and we found him to be extremely professional and also very easy to work with.
He did an amazing job and was way more helpful than we even anticipated! I also enjoyed talking to Gabriella who helped with customer service. She was super nice and friendly, and she also ensured we had a positive experience. Thank you so much Sky Heating!

Punctual service, calling to remind us. Then diligent service. Impressive use of technology Morgan showed the problem with our furnace using pictures and his iPad. We received a plethora of options and he emailed the different plans to us along with his receipt. Friendly, courteous, and helpful. All and all pleased with the service.
