The technician, Ken, was on time, diagnosed the issue very quickly, and made repairs. He did a great job of both troubleshooting and communicating with us. Problem fixed! He even sent photos after his visit of the parts he had to replace. We will definitely call and use Able Heating & Cooling again. Services: Portable A/C services, A/C system maintenance

I received proposals from five companies for installation of a 36,000 BTU system. Able (and Kelly) had the best solution, and surprisingly, the lowest price. A no-brainer. The installation team was first rate, very clean, and efficient. My experience in Portland and at the Oregon coast is multiple bids are important as the companies come up with varying solutions and wide price ranges. In both my cases, the best technical solution also was the cheapest.

Hands down the best experience I've ever had with a service call for anything in my life. My tech Scott was great and took care of the issues and was also very professional and nice to talk to. This business will get all of my AC and Heating business in the future and I could not be any more appreciative for the service done today.

My heating system broke in winter. They arranged next day service for me. Technician was on time, figured out the problem quickly and fixed it within an hour. I called because I had the furnace wasn't working. They gave me an arrival window the next day between 10 AM and noon. The technician, Scott, notified me that he was on his way 30 minutes before his arrival. Promptly at 10 AM, he got started looking at the furnace. He checked all of the components and let me know that the capacitor was working but should be replaced soon in order to prevent damage to the motor.
After he looked at the furnace, he looked at the thermostat and found that it was very old. He recommended replacing the thermostat eventually. He didn't try to sell me anything and told me that it would be much cheaper to buy a thermostat on my own then to have him install one. The problem ended up being a dead battery in thermostat. I was charged for half an hour of labor and the trip charge. I was very happy to pay for peace of mind and the honesty and competency of Scott.

I could not have received a service that was better, more pleasant or more professional than Able Heating & Cooling. I was in dire circumstances with snow & ice outside and a furnace that wouldn't work. They came right out, charged an incredibly reasonable rate to diagnose the problem and do a temporary fix until they could get the replacement part to properly fix my mother's 23 year old furnace. All I can say is AWESOME!

I got to hand it to Kelly at Able H&C. My wife and I bought a new house in Nov and during our first snow in Dec our heat went out. He called me back and generously took 45 minutes walking me through the system in detail, how it operates, answering all my questions and more, and got my heat back up and running without having to send a service rep out (and charge me a bunch of money!). Truly grateful for guys like Kelly. Thanks a million!

We purchases our RHEEM furnace through Able in 2008 and have been consistently satisfied with their service and product. We are so grateful that they immediately responded ( gratitude to the woman who answered the phone and set up our appointments!) to our desperate service request when our furnace suddenly stopped working on the coldest day of the year (with more record cold days looming), and during the holidays! Ken was our technician and we were delighted with his calm expertise, knowledge and assurance that he could get our furnace fixed the next day after tracking down a new motor from Vancouver. I returned from a weekend away to find my furnace wasn't working. Able Heating & Cooling got a technician to my house within just a few hours of my call on Monday morning. The technician was pleasant, professional and patient will my questions and, best of all, had my furnace up and running within an hour (after replacing the circuit board) for a fair price.
Although the work came with a warranty, he also affixed a sticker to my furnace listing possible quick fixes that I could try should it shut down again, such as checking the circuit breaker and/or air filter. I would use this company again without hesitation.

Best furnace repair experience ever! We got up this morning to a cold house - furnace not working. I called Able Heating, talked with Ian, and where other companies had told me it would be 1 to three days before they could come, Ian said he had a tech on his way to another job in my area and could come right over! A half hour later, Nick pulled up.
He had my furnace fixed (broken igniter), and that was great. But the most awesome thing was that Nick agreed to wait while I went to Best Buy to get a NEST smart learning thermostat (just 10 minutes down the road), and he installed the thermostat in about 15 minutes, then spent 10 minutes helping me to create the NEST web account, install the app, and set it up! I was charged for a half hour of extra labor on top of the service call, a bargain. And highly recommend Able. Awesome Able, they should call it.

Able Heating was recommended to us by some friends. I was so impressed that they called me back within 24 hours, answered my questions via phone and scheduled us in less than a week. Scott showed up on time, is so knowledgeable, took the time to explain things to us and is very professional. We recommend Able and will definitely use them again.

After getting the run-around from another local company, we checked out Abel. They had a tech out to our house the next day for a quote. The techs were friendly, professional, and efficient throughout the installation (a five-day project installing an entirely new system in our two-story house). This morning for the first time, our system gave us an error code and wouldn't turn on. We called Abel at 7:30; by 8:15 a tech was on our doorstep. Great service by great professionals!

We initially called Able because it was the only company that was open on a Sunday. We called a few minutes before closing on Sunday, and a technician was at our door at 8:00 Monday morning. He was honest with us and let us know that it would be better to replace our 20+ year old furnace rather than trying to keep fixing it. They gave us reasonable high/medium/low quotes and we had a new furnace within a week.
Other heating/cooling companies have given us a hard time for not using their "maintenance plans," there was none of that with the folks from Able. In fact, they took time with us to make sure we knew what to do to do our own maintenance on the new furnace. We highly recommend!

I'm very thankful for this place as they came out to my residence during a three-day Heatwave we had this summer. They came out during their schedule time and fix my air conditioner, however wasn't very cheap. The guy was super friendly but very talkative. He got the work done AC works, blows cold air, did a great job however I would appreciate him to be less Chatty Cathy and to just hurry up with the process. They received four stars since they came out during the peak Heat. I would definitely search out other companies before I went back to them due to high cost.

Our air conditioner quit working, and we called up Able Heating & Cooling on a Friday afternoon before a heat wave. I didn't expect that I would be able to get service in time, but the owner Kelly came out that evening. He very quickly identified the problem to be a faulty capacitor, replaced it, and finished the job very quickly. Kelly was very professional, and came across as knowledgeable and trustworthy. I would highly recommend Able Heating & Cooling.

Hottest weekend of the year and my air went out. I emailed late Sunday night and Able called at 7:30 the very next morning. Scheduled for 8:30 am and Scott showed up at 8:25! What amazing service! He spent time with me to go over the issues and ways I could prevent further problems. I will highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for quality and timely service.

Excellent experience with this company from start to finish. The estimate, install, and follow-up were professional and performed with care for what I wanted (they even changed bits to suit my preference). The Trane equipment they sell is high quality and so much quieter than I had hoped. Small issues I had after the install (small modifications to suit my house) were addresses promptly and included in the price paid.
The warranty is great. The workers did their jobs well and efficiently. The person who answers the phone is cheerful and prompt with emails, scheduling, etc. They even arranged inspections and what-not. I can't imagine a better experience and recommend them without reservation.

When our furnace started blowing only cold air, I called a bunch of folks to see if someone could come out. We're having a cold snap (for Oregon!) with temps down into the teens. Everyone is booked til next week. Jill at Able was the only one who took the time to suggest that I flip the breaker and replace the filter (which I do every 3 months or so) and it worked! We are now warm and very grateful. Next time we do need work done we will call these olds first!

Ben just came for the annual servicing of my house's heating and cooling system and was so kind and helpful. He was even nice to my cat who was very curious and in the way. As a women under 30 I always dread service calls because I will inevitably be "mansplained" to. That was not the case with Ben. He was very respectful and knowledgable. (Also the system itself is great heats and cools my large old farmhouse very quickly). 5 stars!

Although Nick was running late, arriving 2 30pm instead of 12 30pm, I really appreciated his professionalism, knowledgeable and honesty. He explained my home zoning issues I am experiencing (upstairs is too hot in the summer even when A/C is running and in the winter is the opposite ) indicating my house don't get the evenly air distribution, so he gave us a quote to install a damper at reasonable price, and we decided to go with him. We look forward to seeing Nick back for the damper installation. Thank you.

The Columbia guys just finished putting a new furnace and heat pump into my house and I couldn't have asked for anything more. From the time I called them to today, it took about a month for them to come out, measure everything, give a competitive bid and get everything installed. I bid out a bunch of HVAC companies and of the ones that actually got back to me, Columbia was the best price for the quality of their equipment. Amazing experience.

Our AC went out on Sat morning on one of the hottest days of the year. We called several places but no one could see us until Mon or Tues. A lot of places didn’t answer and we had to leave a message. We called Able and they answered. They had someone to our house within a few hours. Turned out we had to replace a part which the technician had with him so he fixed it right there. Todd the technician was great and even put up with our dogs. They are professional, fast and reasonably priced. He even gave us maintenance advice. I would highly recommend them.
