Garnett Refrigeration Garnett Refrigeration was established in 1957 by John Garnett Jr. Mr. Garnett; a World War II veteran, created the firm in order to supply commercial refrigeration and heating service to Fredericksburg businesses and residences. At that time, central air conditioning systems in houses were very rare and the luxury of year round climate control was mostly reserved for downtown department stores and movie theaters.

Garnett installed a new heat pump for me yesterday, and I couldn't be more pleased with the performance (right as the summer heat hits!) and more than fair price! The installers (Devon and Tucker) were very professional, courteous, efficient and didn't leave any mess behind. Don't hesitate to use Garnett, I'm glad I did.

The initial inspection and the repair were both handled in a professional manner. Both technicians knew what they were doing and were willing to explain the process and answer questions for me. Taylor cleaned my HVAC coils and inspected the system for me as I prepare to put my home up for sale. He was very professional. He had no problem with me watching over his shoulder as he worked. While he worked, he also taught me about the unit and why certain things need to be done. He was a pleasure to have in my home and respected my home as if it were his. He is a well groomed man and takes pride in his work quality. Thank you Garnett Heating and Air Cooling for employing good people who care about their work.

My wife and I bought our first single family home and knew we needed to replace our inherited 25+ yr old Heat Pump. We were in search of an reliable HVAC company to rely on and Garnett impressed us on all levels! Rick, Taylor, Erin, and Dustin were not only friendly and knowledgeable, but also comforting and responsive. Rick informed us of our options in replacing our unit without any bias.

He came off as a family member giving thoughtful suggestions instead of a salesman trying to make a sale. When Taylor and Dustin came to install the unit we chose, they were friendly and hardworking when installing our outdoor and indoor unit. We ended up having an issue where our upstairs unit kept turning off after installation. To no fault of their work, Erin and Taylor continued to follow up to make sure the issue was completely resolved and they did just that! I'd suggest Garnett to my family and friends, through and through.

Had Dustin come out today, and from start to finish I was very impressed. He was prompt, thorough, professional and courteous. He took his time answering any questions I had, which were not many as he was talking and explaining everything as he went. Everyone that I know that has used Garnett has also been very pleased to do business with them!

Installation team is very good and will provide a quality system. Salesman didn't try to oversell and discussed options. I am very happy with the system installed, including the ionizing air cleaner. Price was good. Maintenance varies by tech. I've had techs take their time and open the system up to check and clean and others just look at the pressure readings. Diagnosing a problem with my 5 yr old Trane banging after running is an issue. Took about 5 different techs before one finally understood the issue and gave me options along with an idea of the cost to repair. I had a capacitor go bad last summer and they repaired it within a couple hours so that is great service.

They replaced my old HVAC system three days ago, that was no longer blowing cold air. There was no pressure to buy. It was just a very old unit, and a replacement felt like the right choice to me. The price was competitive, and their responsiveness was excellent. Right now, in early June, the AC replacement/maintenance is pretty heavy and the local companies are pretty backed up.

I received my initial inspection and quote on a weekend, and the install was done within a few days of that initial visit. Also, the entire installation process was done in one day. (thermostat, inside fan, and outside unit, with new piping between the two). The team was friendly, courteous, professional, and incredibly informative. The warranty is one that I'm comfortable with, and the house feels great.

I have been with Garnett Air for over 20 years. They replaced my HVAC system in my previous home and did an excellent job! I knew when it was time to replace my old systems in my current home there was only one company I would call and that was Garnett Air. I called the office to inquire on updating my HVAC systems and the salesman, (Ricky) came to my home to discuss my needs.

There was no hard sale, we talked about what size units I needed, and what he recommended. He was very knowledgeable and showed me step by step of the cost.no surprises at the end. He set up the appointment and 2 weeks later the installers were there on time ready to work. The installers George and Jerry were very professional and courteous. They cleaned up, as they went. Great people! I whole heartily recommend Garnett Air for all your heating and cooling needs.

Used to be a great company to work with, not sure what happened, but in my opinion there was a total lack of communication, the front desk staff was very rude and disrespectful, and they stood us up when they were supposed to fix our A.C. only calling the phone number we told them could not be answered during certain hours. we ended up canceling our service call we will spend our money elsewhere

In 2016 I paid $14,000.00 for 2 separate Trane units, which I was told were the best on the market. The sale and installation were good, except that only 4 years later in 2020, I was told that I needed to invest $1,500.00 in replacing a coil on one of my units, and was told that Trane products were terrible and they no longer install them. In addition to that, ever since these new units were installed, my humidity has been a constant problem. I'm not sure what the best on the market is now, but use caution, as 4 years from now it could be the worst.

Awful company. There was a total lack of communication. I left a message for the estimator who did not respond until I called the company directly 2 hours and 45 min later. He was willing to respond to them and acknowledged I had called. I had no idea if he was coming to provide a quote or not. He had given the spot for today away we had spoken about Friday & he should have let me know instead me being frustrated not knowing. I have now been declined service from this business for being upset. They are very disrespectful to potential clients.

Refer to tech Bobby, he came and found out circuit 1 was low. there should be leak somewhere. he did not try to find the leak. instead he just put 3 lb r22 to even out the pressure. the very second day, the AC unit did not work again. Don't waste your money. bill 381.50 for AV ONLY WORKING ONE DAY. Call anyone else except this one.

Run. far far away. These folks are scammers and are way over priced. We called them to diagnose a commercial A/C that had suddenly stopped working. On their first time out, they filled the system with 6 lbs of R22, which they charge $100/lb. They then proceeded to leave without checking for leaks. 2 days later the system stopped cooling again and had lost all the R22 they had just added.

Red Flag. 2nd time out, they add pressure to the system again and find a leak on the indoor air handler. They gave us a price of $4000 to replace the coil. At this point we've already been charged $1300 for labor and R-22 fills, just to find the leak. Being so expensive, we got a second opinion from another local reputable company. They were able to find the leak immediately, because the leak was so bad that you could hear it while standing next to the air handler.

Their quote was $2500 to replace the coil, or $3500 to replace the entire air handler. Right after the 2nd company left, a Garnett technician shows up and starts replacing the coil WITHOUT our approval! We had specifically called the week before to stop any further work. Fortunately we had someone there to catch them, and told them they were not authorized to perform the repair. Needless to say, we will never use Garnett again, and will warn everyone we know of their tactics.

I had Garnett out to a rental property to service a furnace that wasn't working. Upon receiving the bill several days later, they charged me $99 for the service call (which is fine), and $222 for a part that retails for less than $20 and installs with one screw and one plug. I called them on the over 10x markup for a part, and they said they thought that was a fair charge.

Subsequent requests for invoices for their purchase of the part have been met with silence. I have used Garnett before and was fairly pleased, but not after you rip me off for a $20 part and then act like it's fair. Do yourself a favor and use somebody reputable instead of this company.

They showed up 3 hours late to perform a dye leak test on the attic evaporator coil. Performed the test and left the cover off the attic unit. Then never called me to either tell me the results of the test or recommended resolution to the problem and then sent me a bill for $99. I have multiple housing units in the greater Fredericksburg area and I will never use Garnett Refrigeration for my HVAC issues. Kurt Solomon Aerospace Engineer
