When this company installed my central A/C unit, they did really poor work. I wanted an air return in the hall floor, which they did. When you cut a floor joist to box in the return duct, you put what is called a header that is connected to the joist on each side of the cut joist, then you connect the cut (short) joist to the header to keep the floor from sagging.
This sagging can cause the doors nearby to not close or open properlly. And cause the sheet rock (walls) to crack. In my case all this happened, plus pulled the bath tub from the walls. This house was built in 1940 with no problems up to this time. Before this happened, all sheet rock, wiring, and floors have been replaced. Gist installed this unit in 2003, but the problem doesn't occure over night. Robert Gist tried to blame the problem on time.
There is nothing wrong with the unit, works fine, but this problem shouldn't happen in 50 years. I spoke to Robert Gist 2 times early this year about the problem because I had to go under the house to run extra plumbing pipes, and looked where it was sagging and was speachless at what I saw. On the third call he wouldn't return my calls. I hired a lic. carpenter to look at all the damages, and he agreed to what I claimed. Pictures where taken of all the cracks, dry wall tape pulled from the walls, cracks in the walls, the carpeted sagging floors, and the main problem under the house, then they are to be turned over to the courts when I file for Robert Gist to appear before the judge.
