Frankly, I thought this company had gone out of business. As a homeowner I used them a few years ago. Their objective was to get a service contract, my objective was to get service when needed. The sales guy was rude, the service tech was inexperienced, in training and the kind of guy who is only capable of creating expensive problems. As a now condo owner I just came to understand they do major installs on high rises. If you're a homeowner, my suggestion is keep looking.

Based on my latest service visit, I will NEVER use Hill-York again. Main reasons - their techs overcharge you and their tech manager is rude and confrontational and makes you feel like it is your fault that they overcharged you plus they really don't understand good customer service. In my case I was quoted $360 for a two-hour minimum call plus materials.
After the tech was at my apartment for 1.5 hours, I received a charge for $565 which was for an additional hour ($145) and a $60 materials charge for "topping off" the coolant. Then when I called to get it straightened out, Chris - the tech manager was rude and confrontational. Even after I received a call from the VP of Service their response was to (grudgingly) remove the $145 - and they made me feel like they were doing me a favor despite the fact that the tech was only there for 1.5 hours.
It really feels like they don't care about their residential customers and only do the service work to offset their corporate business. My unit will need to be replaced in 1-2 years (according to their tech) and I will NOT be calling Hill-York to do that work! Sorry guys, you really should learn how to treat a customer.

We have used Hill York for over 20 years but the last 2 quarterly service visits have been painful. After last quarter's pre-paid maintenance visit, our A/C unit mysteriously stopped working. When we called for emergency service the following day, we were told that for a technician to be dispatched on the weekend, we had to authorize a payment of $460 for the visit, plus any additional time needed for diagnostic work or parts.
I was also told that "warranty work" was not covered for a weekend visit. We agreed to pay and disputed the charges and Hill York gave me a $60 credit against the bill. Fast forward to yesterday's prepaid maintenance visit. A small part was "proactively replaced" as part of the routing maintenance and wouldn't you know it. Today, Saturday, our unit stopped working again!
We called the 24 hour service department and were given the same message: Warranty work is not done on the weekends; yesterday's visit was "warranty" so if we wanted to have the service technician come over today, he could, but only if we authorize the same $460 for the visit plus the rest. We will be contacting the Better Business Bureau with this. Lessons learned: never prepay for anything and don't let a technician visit your home on a Friday. What an absolute disappointment.

When I needed a new a/c unit for my home, Bob patiently walked me through the process of deciding on the best application at the best value. I learned well into the conversation that residential a/c is not their primary focus. but I wouldn't have known from the amount of attention he gave to me and knowledge he shared. Thank you Hill York. you guys are amazing! I owe you one. -Marcus Shawn Pfenninger Fire Guard

Although I have never used this company, I now will never! As I'm waiting in a very long line at chick fil a, one of the drivers in a company car pulled around the cones set up to control the line and cut many patiently waiting people. When the employee told the driver to pull around, the driver got very upset, complained, and asked for the manager. Great job #hy191 driver.

I recently sold my Condo in Miami Beach and found that I had an open Permit for an A/C unit that I paid Hill York to install several years ago. Hill York did a good job working with the city inspector to to close the permit but no the code had changed and required a metal stand instead of the one the used. Hill York wanted to charge me $2,250 for their mistake due to them not closing the permit. The Manager never called me back and If you do use them make sure they close any open permits

We hired Hill York to install several new A/C systems located in South Florida. We have had issues with almost every system that they installed. They installed a new system that is less then 8 months old, which had a belt break and damage some other components in the air handler. According to them, this is a maintenance issue. After only 8 months, we are already having to deal with these issues.
I can't wait to see what happens in a year or two. Very disappointed with the service at Hill York. I plan on contacting Trane with a complaint about the installation and services we received from Hill York. Free advice, If your looking for a company who prides theirselves on customer service and making things right, do not use Hill York.

We moved into a home with an older a/c unit that wasn't cooling well. I called Hill York to come check it out. The technician Brian looked it over and told me the unit was fine and just needed some maintenance items addressed. He spent about 2 hours and got it working perfectly. Very professional and honest company.

Serious Experts. Frank S. is a superior problem solver, his team and administrative professionals are a pleasure to collaborate with. When others have missed the mark, Hill York will resolve every time. Commercial or Residential. Thanks to Hill York, our 5 unit 14 zone controlled by home automation system is running accurately and well.

WOW! Great job! Within 2 1/2 hours our air conditioning problem was fixed to perfection! The person taking my information over the phone could not have been more polite. Luckily, Brian, the technician was able to come right away. My family had suffered the entire night sweltering. The service could not have been more professional. My air-conditioner may be old, but it's working just fine now thanks to Hill York! I am going to recommend Hill York to all my neighbors. Do not believe the naysayers, they are just crabby from being so hot for so long.

I would never use another company! If you need an honest and loyal company look no futher! My first encounter was with Greg, he was so helpful and reassured me someone would be out as soon as possible. Sean came out next day and worked until he found the issue. He was informative, knowledgeable and punctual. We had an experience with another AC company that took our money and didn't fix the problem. So thank you Sean & Greg you for such a great experience!

I knew it would be expensive but this is daylight robbery: $190.00 for the first hour and then $140.00 per hour after that! This is the last time I will ever deal with Hill York again! And this is after we had to re-schedule as they couldn't stick to the original schedule. Brian Callahan did an awesome job, though, and got my a/c going in a jiffy.

I spoke with dispatcher on phone - he quoted me $170.00 for two hours. He also stated that I will be responsible for any additional parts if A/C unit needs it. Technician (very professional) came out stated that he needed to add Freon at $50.00/per pound. I needed 2 pounds. I was expecting a bill for $270.00 instead I got a bill for $440.00. Company has hidden charges for residential customers, if you call them make sure you get something written before they perform any work, big or small. I believe people who know their craft should get paid, but really $340.00 to put 2 pounds of liquid in an A/C unit.
