I contacted this company because of their 40 years of experience. When I spoke to the company, the person who answered the phone said they had a non-refundable "service call fee" that is not applied to the repair or parts but they "don't mark up their cost for parts". cutting to the chase, they first tried to sell me an expensive "lifetime" capacitor that only had a 5-year warranty which I declined, but then charged over $160 to install a regular 35-5 MFD ($8 to $16 in the store) capacitor.

I called Blackwell and they said they charge "the industry flat rate" for parts and installation, so the "no mark-up on parts" claim is just smoke and mirrors. I will be peeling Blackwell labels off of my HVAC units--inside and outside--and consider this an expensive lesson on how NOT to pick repair companies. UPDATE: I stand by my review and recommendation to potential future customers after reading Blackwell's response.shop around.

Great service and professional technicians. They only do what they say they'll do and and nothing extra without your consent, (the way it should be). Their prices are reasonable as well. You owe it to yourself to call these great people if you need your home system serviced.

My car broke down in the middle of a busy road in high traffic and this guy parked his van and helped me push my car out of the way. will definitely use them if my AC ever goes out. Thank you

This company was sent out by my home warranty service as a technician to fix a toilet and water heater. They came to do the initial assessment and it was downhill from there. This company made countless appointment and never showed up. They claimed to have picked up the water heater and part for the toilet but would not show up to do the repair. They gave many excuses including the company van not being operable. After nearly 2 months of getting the run around, my warranty company finally gave me the option to find my own technician. Worst customer service ever. Beware!

Size matters! From two separate experiences, I can attest that HVACs that are too small or too big cause comfort issues. In both cases, Blackwell calculated load, measured flow, and installed a system that provided perfect climate control! When it matters, Blackwell delivers. Professional, courteous, reliable, and dependable!

I can't recommend them enough! I called at 7am and spoke with a nice young man from the answering service and explained that it wasn't an emergency. I left my information and what was going on and was contacted maybe 15 minutes later letting me know that someone was available the same day. They arrived at 9, identified the problem, and had it fixed in no time flat! He kept me posted on everything he found or needed to do and ran all the prices by me in advance. Last month it was expected to turn cold and my elderly aunt wanted her heating unit checked. I called Blackwell and was immediately given a timeframe for a visit and was taken care of. On last week, she had an issue where the unit wouldn’t light and I called them back to check on the issue and again given a same day appt. From my calls with Mindy and Connie to our interaction with the technician Trey, they were all professional very helpful and definitely put my aunt at ease.

The tech also wore a mask while in the home which she appreciated. Thank you Blackwell Heating & Air for your awesome service....We highly recommend them for all your HVAC needs!

We chose Blackwell to install a new HVAC system in our home built in 1974. Service calls are scheduled annually which help offset problems. The service techs are knowledgeable, friendly and email pictures of completed work which I'm able to label and file. We really appreciate the way they do business.

I would have never thought that a new air and heating system would make such an improvement not only to the comfort of my home but my electric bill as well. The staff from answering the phone to the sales agent to the installation, the follow up and the inspection from the city... this company exceeded my expectations!!!! Same day service. Tech was very friendly. But expensive! My cost was almost $300 just to clean out a clogged drain line. Will not use again!

Blackwell Heating and Air is very professional from the moment you speak with the company over the phone. Calls are returned when they say they will be. Appointments are always on time, and if they aren't going to make it, someone calls WELL BEFORE THE APPOINTMENT TIME, to reschedule. I love that there is an answering service to speak with someone even if it is not normal business hours.

My mom uses Blackwell for her AC as well and she called on New Years Day and was serviced immediately. Blackwell has performed over and beyond what we expected with every detail being noticed. The company is well mannered, punctual, and a very well-oiled machine.

I always receive great service from Blackwell Heating and Air. I recently had need of a replacement AC during the Christmas holidays. Blackwell installed the unit on Christmas Eve to insure we had a pleasant holiday. The entire Blackwell team is has always been courteous and professional each time I've used them. I've been a customer for over ten years and highly recommend them.

Very professional, personable and knowledgeable. Outstanding customer service, and work completed quick by very nice guys. My new gas furnace and nest thermostat are working great! I was also very excited that they walked me through the gas rebate. Troy came by for a final inspection brought me all the paperwork for that and my warranty neatly organized in a folder. This company has inflated prices. The new A/C does not cool as good as it should. They took my thermostat and circuit breakers that where new and put in their own without my permission. They damaged the baseboard putting in a new air filter housing, I did not ask them to put in a new air filter housing. Since than I had a new A/C put into my daughters house the work was professional and the A/C cools down the whole house fast. Great price as well. We have used Blackwell Heating and Air for over 10 years now. And we have service twice a year on our unit. From sales, office staff and technicians everyone of them I have encountered have been absolutely amazing, friendly, knowledgeable and all around helpful. I have no problem at all recommending this company for all of your heating and cooling needs.

My husband and I just replaced both our outside unit, inside unit and had all new duct work placed. Troy the first guy that came out to look at what we had and tell us what we needed was very knowledgeable and honest with us. We didn’t feel like he was trying to get us to buy something we didn’t need . The crew was so nice during install, they were very respectful of our home and cleaned up nicely after themselves!

They were quick from the time we decided to use them and starting the install and stayed right on schedule. Not to mention our power bill was cut in 1/2!!!! We are so happy with our new system and think you will be to if you choose Blackwell!

My service tech called me and asked if i didnt mind if he showed up a little early? I would rather someone be early than late! I'm so grateful for the common courtesy of asking before just showing up at my house! He stayed and talked to me, and my husband and answered all of our questions! I never felt rushed, pushed into buying something I didn't want he gave us different options and explained each one so we knew what we were getting.

He told us what is required and what isn't, he was EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGEABLE! Yes, Blackwell prices are expensive. But after shopping around and having multiple different problems with units and being scammed I'd rather pay more money and know I'm getting QUALITY PRODUCT AS WELL AS SERVICE! An not just a he said she said, it's in writing and he was willing to work with us and our budget as best as he could!

I am so incredibly grateful for that! He did such a good job with making sure all of our questions were answered and his paperwork was complete after we stopped yacking his ear off he had been at our home for over 4 hours and not once made us feel like we were bothering him or being stupid customers asking too many questions. He was extremely professional and my husband and I learned a lot about our old system and the new system and our home that we didn't know that we do now. And we owe all our thanks to Troy! I will be recommending Blackwell hands down, no doubt about it!

Service call on a Saturday, very decent response time since we already knew there were 2 calls before us. Technician called first for confirmation, came in and diagnosed issue and had it repaired within a hour. Friendly, courteous and to the point. Very satisfied with this experience.

I have been a customer for over ten years, even having new unit and ductwork. I love their friendly and professional technicians, they are very accommodating of my crazy schedule. Also their extended warranty and yearly maintenance pkgs worth every penny. Great local company!
