The Cohen family's roots in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning date all the way back to the 1930's, where Sam Cohen owned a sheet metal shop in New Haven, Connecticut. Sam's son Seymour, along with some other family members, then entered in the business in the 1940's by starting American Supply which was a HVAC wholesale company in New Haven. In 1959, Seymour Cohen decided to go out on his own and founded The Star Supply Company at its original location of Olive Street and Water Street in New Haven, Connecticut.

Rep says: "We'll only sell you a capacitor if you have an electrical license." Replacing a capacitor on an AC unit is super easy (done it several times), The safety measures (disconnect unit and discharge capacitor) are basic. It's far less risky than replacing an electrical outlet which any DIY homeowner has done a hundred times. Home Depot even sells these things. The policy not to sell these to people is about protectionism of the trade, not safety. It's insulting and ridiculous.
