Services
Cornelius Jayson founded The Jayson Company for water softening in 1936. He provided services to families and businesses in New Jersey. The third generation of our NJ family serves you now. As we have grown to become one of the largest water softening, purifying, and pool service companies in NJ, our family of satisfied customers has grown too.
Get unlimited cleaner, better tasting water right from the tap! Reverse Osmosis (RO) filtration provides better taste and healthier water than tap or bottled water by removing industrial and agricultural wastes, metals, pesticides, residual pharmaceuticals and other hard-to-remove impurities. A Reverse Osmosis Method (ROM) of water purification uses a membrane of microscopic pores that allow only tiny pressurized water molecules to pass through.
A water softening system is a least costly and most effective way to end your hard water troubles. As a result, your water enters the water softener as hard water and comes out as "soft water." Consequently, no more hard water stains. Also, no more scaly mineral deposits, scratchy laundry, spotted dishes, or foul odors.
Water Softening: A water softening system corrects high mineral content in your water "hard water". Eliminating hard water benefits you in a variety of ways. Some of these are shown below. The Jayson Company can recommend a water softening system tailored to your fix your specific hard water conditions.

After opening pool the communication has been horrendous. I have attempted to call and speak with Christine multiple times about the state in which they have left it. She was expected to coordinate draining the pool with another company and after approximately 6 calls in a little over a week nothing has been done. The poor receptionist has even memorized my phone number. I realize they are under staffed but to not resolve on going customer issues signifies a significant problem with their business.

This company used to be great but trying to get salt delivered for the system they installed is now impossible. They don't even answer the phone or reply to emails. Didn't show up for delivery date and then showed up several days later when I wasn't home. After numerous attempts to call I have given up and called someone else.

I want to share a customer service warning to anyone thinking of doing business with The Jayson Company. The home I moved into last year had old equipment in the basement (not hooked up) with their name on it. In January I called them to ask if someone could show me what it was, if it could still work, and how it might work if we wanted to start service.
I booked the appointment, tech came out, and at the end of the visit informs me that the charge is $90 for a service call. I didn't pay, explaining that no one told me there would be a fee, and that I would have passed on the call if there had been one. Since, I have been getting monthly bills for this fee. I have called and even been into the office numerous times; it has taken literally *9 months* to speak with a supervisor (who oversees the department).
When he finally called me back today and I explained the situation to him, his first response is to tell me, verbatim, that it's "the dumbest thing I ever heard" that I would expect a "service call" and not to pay. I spoke calmly with him, not raising my voice, told him I didn't appreciate being spoken to that way, and tried to explain further my position.
He ultimately, begrudgingly, agreed to credit the charge but told me not to call again if I wanted service, and hung up on me, saying he had a lot of work to do with other people who are customers. I have rarely experienced such disrespect, especially from someone whose job it is to oversee a customer-based service function. I would highly encourage you to reconsider before doing business with this company.

Ive read all these reviews and very surprised by it. I just moved to NJ from NY and immediately noticed the water was terrible. HORRIBLE! When we bought the house there was already a water softener in the basement that was unplugged and seemed to be non-working. We almost got rid of it. However, the water was so bad I asked my husband to look into the manufacturer (The Jayson Company) instead of purchasing a new system.
I have to admit, my husband had a hard time getting someone on the phone. An answering machine would pick up directing him to call another number and this was the only way to get in touch with someone; after he left a message on that second line. However, doing this always guaranteed a call back. Mr. William showed up at the house. He was extremely knowledgeable and attentive.
I expressed all of my concerns and he promised us that all would be good. He took his time walking us through the water testing process and showed us exactly how disgusting this water is. That was Tuesday. By Thursday he was back at our house replacing everything and getting this water right. As promised! Ive never so excited to take a shower. I wanted to see if I would see a difference in my skin. Using this NJ water caused our skin to be dry, towels rough, over use of detergent, water stains on my appliances and build up in my shower which drove me crazy.
It made my tub look dirty. With that being said, my son and my husband and I took a shower and purposefully didn't apply lotion because Mr. William promised that our skin would feel so soft and that would be the determining factor that the filtration was running through the house as it should. He was right. Maybe God was looking after me and sent me Mr William (a blessing) or maybe the company is trying to change how they operate.
I don't know! Either way, I am a very happy customer and Im super excited. I'm totally looking forward to washing my hair and feeling a difference in my curls. No more brittle curls. Thanks Mr William!

After 40 years I had to have the Jayson soft water system removed from my home. Since the start of covid, these guys have provided the worst in service. I had to bring my 80 lb salt bags to my basement myself. Jayson would only make an outdoor delivery, even if I wore a mask, and stayed 20 feet away from their employee. Even the "science", would challenge this policy.
My system started making a noise like a freight train at its regeneration time, 4 am. It woke us up every time it cycled 3 flights of steps away, by a loud vibrating type sound. After a call to request service, which was a recording, they haven't answered the phone live, since March of 2020 it's now July of 2021. They would call back the next day, take info and say a plumber would call in 5 days. 5 days later plumber calls and says he can be there in a week.
The plumber calls, confirms, and shows up to make repair. All good for a few months. The problem starts again, so I go through the process again, leave a message, get a call back the next day, and am told a plumber will call on 5 days. A week later I call back, because srill no plumber called, I leave a message, and get a call the next day. I'm told by the service Manger, the service Director will call me to have service scheduled A few days go by, no call from service Director ( this is in June of 2021, no more covid excuses are valid in my book).
I tried once more, was told service Director would call. no call. I called a competitor a neighbor told me they were very satisfied with, Culligan. I made a call to Culligan, a sales guy came out in 2 daysto see my home and make a reccomendation. 4 days later, my new system was installed. Its wonderful, and uses a lot less salt, as it monitors water usage and regenerates when needed, not every other day like Jayson system.
The Jayson system would regenerate every other day even when we went on vacation, a tremendous waste. The Culligan system is a few more dollars a month to rent, but in reduced salt usage by 50%. So I'm way ahead. The system is modern, and everyone in the sales and install process lived up to what they promised. So after 40 years, good bye Jayson, hello Culligan!

I rented a water softener for many years and I paid them on time. Every time I needed service had to wait. And finally I closed my account with them and I have there used equipment out side of my house. They don't come to pick it up. First there excuse was covid. I understand. Then after I put it out side for the past six months and I called them e mail them wrote a letter.
Everything I could. I did. But still there are refusing to pick up there equipment. What a business the are running. You took my money for many years and now I stuck with your-- not good you deserve zeeero stars.

Left our residence completely without water during the whole pandemic. Water conditioning system and water system seized to work. We saw Jason trucks on the road, but never got service and received only 1 callback after numerous placed calls. Still no water service 5 months later. We are receiving our bills though. They wont be paid.

I've had a Jayson water softener in my home for 15 years. I just had it serviced for the first time in at least ten years. The repairman was a 20 year veteran of the company, very knowledgeable and quickly fixed several issues, all of which were caused by my neglect (power went out on the plug that the equipment was plugged into several months ago). The price was reasonable and there was no attempt to up-sell me to the latest equipment like some contractors do. I highly recommend the company.

I am very unhappy with this company. 1. I had to place several calls with messages to this company just to have them remove a two-part water softening unit that was left behind when I moved in. This unit continually deposited water from the main line directly to the drain. I am not sure if this is supposed to happen or not but this was my situation, wasting tons of water the entire, from March to until yesterday. They're appointments to remove the unit was almost a month out. 2.
When they came, they were an hour and a half late. They struggled to get the unit out. Once it was out. They needed to close two lines that were installed for the unit. The soldered end caps both leak. In addition to these leaks, each line has its own valve which also were left leaking. 3. I have tried reaching out to the company to send someone to correct this situation, however, reaching anyone at this company is incredibly difficult.
I did get the receptionist who was clearly sounded upset that she had to be talking to me. I got possibly two sentences in before she eagerly sent me to someone in another department. In no way would I recommend this company. I am frustrated with the behavior of the company as a whole and would not recommend anyone else use them. Correct your staff and your standards.

I use the Jayson Company to maintain and upgrade my whole house filtration system. While I have interacted with competition, I stay with Jayson since they are incumbents. However, I am very disappointed by the interaction, quality of service and approach. 1. They are very difficult to get to, getting appointments take a lot of time, and everything needs a visit.
A lot of competition are ok investing in a bit of advice, especially if they have your business 2. I did an upgrade recently on their systems to close a glaring design gap. Due to the very limited availability, I could not be present. The quality of the installation was below par and I would say, dangerous. Having paid top dollar, I would have expected them not to cut corners. 3.
After reading manufacturer specs, I can see the fault in the overall design. This is worrying as they are meant to be the experts. I understand they have been around for long and have a captive market. Not sure if this is the only way to do business

Speaking about the pool service division and there new GM - Terrible -Terrible - Terrible. He quoted me a price of double the competition by pictures that I sent him to install a Aqualink/Jandy system. He told me everything I currently have needs to be replaced. His quote was over $5000. When I asked if he could review the quote and maybe see where I can save some money, his reply was sorry but this is the best I can do.
And I just want to say again this is by photos I sent him. He never came out to look at the job. Well I checked out other pool companies (they came out and looked everything over) and everyone was less expensive by substantial margins. As it turns out I did not need to have everything replaced as Jayson Pool Company GM stated. I got exactly what I wanted for $2600. So I saved $2400 by doing my due diligence. The new GM is brand new here and he needs to go bye bye.

From start to finish, nothing but problems. The sales man will talk up installation and quality of the work and 16 MONTHS later you will be paying another company hundreds and possibly thousands to fix their shotty craftsmanship. Jayson Company failed inspection 2x at my house, which is no surprise as their was a different crew on the job every day and corners were cut whenever possible. Jayson Company also tried to charge extra to rectify the problems which would allow me to pass inspection, despite the contract saying the job would be complete to meet local code.
As the quality of their technicians, the "electrician" told us he would be hooking something up the sub panel.we didn't have a sub panel! Endless phone calls, emails, text messages etc between many employees at Jayson company, no 2 employees could ever give the same story. I paid the bill as per the contract.1/3 up front, 1/3 on given date and 1/3 upon completion.
In my opinion (and according to the contract) the job is not complete until I have a final PASSING inspection. Jayson company charged me interest on the last 1/3 of the bill, which i refused to pay until the contract was complete, clearly they don't follow the terms of their own contracts. I was so tired of talking to them that I paid the small amount of interest (it was not about the money but the, principle).
If it is any indication of the nightmare Jayson Company can be, I am currently having an issue that is covered UNDER WARRANTY by Jayson Company fixed by another company, as I would rather pay money out of my pocket then have them working in my home again.

First thing they will tell you that they are around for tens and hundreds of years, and how their company was founded. Twice the price then anyone else, and as soon as you question price point, they stop calling or responding you back. Josh (Supposedly nth generation owner) specifically stopped all the communications. Unprofessional.

When my 30-year-old central air conditioning quit I called 3 companies whose trucks I see all the time. All 3 gave me best and worst case estimates to repair what was most likely wrong. I also obtained their estimates to replace the entire system. They all said that it was way past its life. One estimate was a lot higher than Jayson, the other was about the same. Jayson's sales rep was knowledgeable, didn't pressure me and, really made the sale.
They got it installed right before the fourth of July last year, when I was going to have a houseful. The installation crew was great and respectful of my property. I really was very happy with the entire job and the bonus was a difference in my electric usage. Billing was the weak link. I paid a deposit when signing the order and was told to plan on paying the balance when the crew finished the job, but they didn't know anything about that.
After about a week I called the office and was told that the invoice was in the mail. It arrived a couple of weeks later and I paid it. It was all correct, as quoted, but they probably should improve how billing is handled.

We called 3 different contractors before having our furnace replaced with Jayson. The first company wanted $6000. The second said it would be $3000 but then later said it would cost $4500. We were about to go with this quote but they were rude so we then called Jayson. The Jayson people were great and their bid was also the cheapest at $3500. They installed a new furnace very quickly and it's been working well and it has a ten year guarantee.
They also provided us with portable heaters while we waited 2 days for the furnace to arrive, so the house wasn't freezing all the time. I would recommend them. Out of all the companies we tried they were the best and cheapest.

Service was good - came per schedule or when called and did a good job. Their billing on the other hand is notorious. They are supposed to bill quarterly for our water softener rental. But it will be erratic. You can never keep track of which quarter you have paid for a which one you haven't. Sometime you wont get a bill for 5 months, and then suddenly you'll get 3 bills. Billing does not return calls either. We've left that property and good riddance to Jayson.

We hired Jayson to service our swimming pool as well as water softener and water filter. After repeated issues with both divisions and poor service, we canceled both. We are now in a dispute with them over a $ 300.00 balance and are being sued for over almost $4,000.00. Even though their first attorney asked us to settle for $ 600. So believe what you read from other posters. Stay away

JAYSON fixed my AC quickly and at a fair price when it quit over last Independence Day and I couldn't reach another guy who maintained the unit for me when I bought this place. Customer Service was very responsive under holiday conditions. Moreover, I have an old, odd pump unit from 1988 and they were completely familiar with it. Also, Called JAYSON two years ago for a water heater fix at another house and they did a similarly fine job with no issues. Their techs seem experienced and professional. No muss, no fuss. I will call them gain when I need HVAC work. And I stand by this referral to you.

They don't do same day delivery and they RIP YOU OFF. When I had them deliver the oil the heat didn't come on and instead of telling me over the phone to press a button on the boiler they decided to make a trip back to the house for a ridiculous amount of money to show me how to push a button. It took all of one minute. Really?! I guess they didn't want me to continue using them.definitely go with essex oil.

NEVER USE THIS COMPANY FOR ANYTHING; THEY ARE A BLATANT RIP-OFF! I own a 2 family home in Clifton NJ, and I called The Jayson Company to repair a broken Blower belt on the AC unit in the attic an $ 8 Dollar part according to their invoice. I was charged in total $816.32. After repeated calls to their Service department and Accounting office, I thought they would quickly see their errors and acknowledge their mistake.
No answer, I called the owner Mr. Jayson repeatedly and never got him on the phone or a call back. We paid $266.43 way more than is customary to replace a Blower belt and then they started to bill us interest on the disputed balance. The technician billed us for travel time, from where I do not know maybe Baltimore, and told us we needed new filters, my wife asked what size, (we have a Home depot within a mile and never authorized him to buy us 12 filters) and now their Son became an attorney in June of 2011 and is now suing us over the un-paid balance, By the Way the Legal fee that he is adding to the disputed balance is 1/3 of what a no nothing technician charged us to replace a belt. That's pretty funny. DO BUSINESS WITH ANYONE ELSE BUT THE JAYSON COMPANY, YOU WILL BE SORRY IF YOU DO.
