Our Grandfather, Harvey Hottel, was certainly ahead of his time. World War II was drawing to a close in 1945, and food rationing in America was about to end. Harvey was sent to Washington, D.C. to design and install government food storage plants, and Comfort Cooling was created. Although this new technology was not yet available to the public, intuition told him that someday Comfort Cooling would be in demand on a much larger scale.

Worst company ever. Came out at 6 pm when they were supposed to be here at 3 pm. Technician didnt want to be here because it was dark by them (during the winter months). Told me they charged the system and that the compressor is bad and needs replacement, 1300$. Not knowing any better we paid for service. Next day not working so we called them back, after i talked with the HVAC guy at my work location who said you cant charge the system if compressor is bad.
So i brought that to this technicians attention before i told him what his company supposedly did the day before and he said i was correct. Long story short Harvey Hottel would not refund money, they would only take the 1300 off the price of a new indoor AND out door unit. 2 years later. Im sitting here with no a/c being told noone can come out and work on it because it was never inspected after installation. HARVEY HOTTEL IS A RACKET. No one should ever call them. Find any other company before calling them.

I filed a complaint regarding a HVAC service call with Harvey W. Hottel Inc. late December 2015. After 3 attempts to obtain a response from the company I contacted Montgomery County's Consumer Protection Agency. Hottel did at last respond through the agency. However, They provided no explanation for their prior lack of response. They provided no explanation for their staff's lack of training in the diagnostics provided by the 'communicating' systems they install. Hottel installed my HVAC and maintained it for 7 years. As a result of this experience I have not renewed my contract and no longer provide a good reference for their services.

I used Hottel to replace the washers and a handle in my shower at my home in Georgetown DC. The handles were 75 years old. I was concerned that the parts may not be available or they would need to order them. No problem. they had the parts. The technician arrived on time did a great job and was very professional. Thx!

A few years ago they replaced our oil heat and A/C. They installed the wrong parts first and blamed it on the manufacturer. Finally after several days and their trouble shooting expert getting involved ( since retired) the system was running. It was noisy from the beginning. It sounded to me like and motor bearing was wearing from the beginning. When I reported the problem, I was told that was just the way they sounded.
A year or two later the noise was unbearable in the house. I reported it, I was told that they had no record of my original complaint. They came out at a charge of over $1000 to change out the bad motor. It was out of labor warranty. The part was covered by Trane. A few months later another expensive issue arrived. They fixed this one for free, knowing that I was thinking lawyers.
No trouble until today. Our A/C is malfunctioning. I called for technical advise twice. The first time I was promised a call from a technician within an hour. An hour and a half later I called again. I was promised a call back in a couple of minutes. Nearly 1/2 hour later I have received no call. Thus this message. I have been exceedingly patient with this company. I am now done with them. I recommend you find another vendor.

I would never hire again.ever. I contracted them to service my residential AC. When they first came out they did not have all the parts. Next time they fixed it, supposedly. Three weeks later water leaked everywhere, including my downstairs neighbor's apartment. They fixed it, but it was a headache to deal with. Throughout this whole thing I have been getting notices saying that I have an outstanding balance of $500 due.
I haven't paid it because I talked to them on the phone and gave them my credit card number to pay for it soon after the service. Now, I received a letter stating that they will be turning it over to the attorney. I called my card company and they mention that the card was never charged. I could possibly have lowered my credit score simply because the lady forgot to run my card.
I have and will pay, but if everyone would just understand, the amount of my time that I have invested or wasted with this company would compensate that $500 and they would have an outstanding balance of at least $500. Go ahead, if you don't believe me, hire them! This is, if not the one, one of the worst companies that I have ever used. They are professionals in disguise. Don't call them!
