I am very impressed with Flame Heating and Cooling. After my experience with this company, I would recommend them to acquaintances, friends and family. Although the price for a new AC unit/installation is higher than most, I come from an HR background and understand all too well what it takes to train/keep exceptional team members and the overhead costs that come with running a business.
What sold me on Flame Heating and Cooling is two things."Exceptional Customer Service", and "no interest financing for up to 18 months if you qualify". I can also add that the quality and workmanship is outstanding. The team members are good-natured, personable, and they do a clean installation. My first encounter with Flame was a service call to repair an old unit.
The technician, Anna, is exceptional. Anna isolated the problem within minutes and had my air running in no time. The charge for the service call and part was very minimal, and in my book, she is a rock-star! Overall, my summary with this company is this: Responsive and answers/returns calls, sends text/email with appointment reminders, sends a short bio and pictures of the technicians, professional over the phone, professional and forthright sales team, exceptional customer service from every technician and licensed contractor, exceptional labor and parts warranty on new units, no-interest financing for those who qualify. I give Flame Heating and Cooling 5 out of 5 stars.

This was my first experience with Flame, and it was a very positive one. I switched over to them from another company after not being fully satisfied with the other company's service. Communication with Flame and my assigned tech was excellent. The tech took her time in assessing both my furnace and a/c unit. She identified some suggested maintenance, which I had her take care of for me.
She also let me know about some issues with current a/c unit which is an early warning to me to save up some money for a new unit in the near future. I appreciated her transparency and helpfulness. All in all, very good experience and I'll be using Flame again!

Overall, I'm very pleased with my experience with FLAME. Every step of the way, customer service has been friendly and helpful - from the first phone call, to installation day. Unfortunately, there was a scheduling mistake on FLAME's end when a service tech was scheduled to come out and diagnose what was wrong with my old AC unit. My appointment was accidentally placed a week late. However, when I called FLAME, the receptionist apologized profusely and contacted someone to come out promptly the following day. Unfortunately, after the visit we decided the best route forward was to replace our 17 year old unit.
I was told that a salesperson would contact me the following day. They did not. Two days later, I called and scheduled a salesperson to quote us on a new unit. They managed to come hours later. The salesperson was friendly, quick, and not overbearing in anyway. He was in and out within 30 minutes or so. The price of the unit with installation was actually about 1/4 less than we expected it to cost, so we signed and chose an installation date.
Much to our surprise, again, they were able to schedule us only 1 week out. We fully expected that with the state of production and lack of workers that it would be 3-4 weeks out. I understand that these guys are working incredibly hard right now since the weather is changing and the world is in utter chaos. Today was installation day. The crew was on time, early even!
Once again, they were kind, respectful, and professional. From what I can tell so far, they executed the installation adequately and cleaned up after themselves. Our installer even helped secure a rattling vent rattle than made itself apparent after the install, but wasn't caused by anything they did. Payment was a breeze as well. I didn't feel like I was being taken advantage of at any point like many other contracting businesses do.
After a bad experience with a different air conditioning company, I won't hesitate to reach out to FLAME for work in the future. If anything changes, I will update this review.

My water heater was not working after the gas was shut off for unrelated work. I called Flame to come check it out and they sent Rob out almost immediately. It was a simple fix, but Rob explained everything to me in an easy to understand manner, whereas I may be able to do it myself should it happen again. Rob has been to my home before and has done excellent work. He's polite, professional, friendly and efficient. I hope Flame has a reward system and Rob receives one for the excellent work he does.

The team that came to my home to install a new furnace and central team was communicative, prompt & professional What a great group of men. Everything was installed neatly they laid down blue matting so my home stayed clean. They walked me through everything in detail. Truly appreciate and very impressed. highly recommended.

I was with Custom Temperature Control in Clawson and Flame since has taken over. Flame H&C has not missed a beat. Their customer service is world class and this is a lost art these days. Everyone in the office is amazing and my Technician Gavin is a very nice and professional young man. Super organized, friendly and humble. Flame made a great decision hiring this young man. I will be staying with Flame for as long as I own my home. Highly recommended. Thanks to the Entire Flame Team

We had to replace our hot water tank. We've been living in the house for more than 8 years with only one minor plumbing issue (simple leak) before replacement of the hot water tank. They came out and replaced the tank and ever since we've had multiple plumbing issues. I don't know what the guy who replaced the tank did but it led to a backup in one of the water lines.
We called Flame to get someone to take a look and it ended up them having to dig in the basement and replace parts of the water line below ground. Then they said they want to keep digging all the way. We also now have almost no hot water pressure and now they are quoting us four digits to fix the issue. Spent several thousands of dollars on multiple plumbing issues since their first visit in our home.
I understand issues come up with time but these are just too many to be a coincidence as we've been in the house for more than 8 years without any major issues, and now we have several major issues since letting them in our home. The issue is it's impossible to prove anything, so their 10 year warranty on their work is kind of useless. Maybe their HVAC department is good but our plumbing experience was poor.

Flame Heating, Cooling, Plumbing and Electrical is most definitely a professional company. For my first call to them they sent out a quote, made an appointment for an installation of a new hot water tank. Before the professional employee arrived, they had sent me an email showing his picture little history on him and his professionalism. Austin was absolutely wonderful and explaining everything he was doing, everything was done in a timely matter and my old water tank taken out. A very clean installation. Thank you for your wonderful professionalism!

After waking up to 46 degrees indoors, I realized the furnace had stopped working. After calling Flame they sent out a tech to look things over, but of course my Attic Furnace part wasn't in his van, so I had to wait until the following day for the repair. Jeff and Mike were both so polite, quiet, and very nice about breaking bad news. I will call again.
Perhaps the only thing I'd change? If they'd ask what type of furnace make/model so they could ensure they had the most frequently broken parts with them. HOWEVER - my furnace is 21 years old so I can't really complain, can I? :

What great service! I spoke with Tom first thing in the morning after finding out late the night before my water heater was leaking out water everywhere! He was quick to send over the estimate and get someone out the same day to remove my old water heater and install the new! The technician Eric was very friendly and helpful. He was in and out in no time and even asked to clean up the mess! All around great service! I'd recommend Flame to everyone!

My technician Samantha G., was very prompt, courteous, very knowledgeable of her craft and professional. She explained exactly what our furnace needed and what she needed to perform in a manner we understood. I appreciate the respect to the property, by wearing shoe guards and tidying up afterwards. Overall, we are fully satisfied with the quality of service she provided to us. We bare in mind this experience when in need of service again. You rock Samantha!

We recently experienced a breakdown in our furnace. It stopped working overnight and our temperature dropped into the 50's. We called Flame and they promptly scheduled a service call. The service technician was very professional and efficient. He determined the issue, replaced the faulty part and brought the furnace back to life quickly. Very well done!

My first and last experience with this garbage company. Someone came out to provide an estimate on a dampening system for my furnace/ac and was told I would get an estimate within 1-2 days. After waiting a week I called and they said the person who came out will call me back. Waited another week again no call so I called and I get the same response. I'm sorry but I shouldn't have to call and beg to do business with a company. I don't understand how difficult it is to provide a quote for someone who wants to spend money with your company.

We wanted to get a complete HVAC replacement before the imminent demise of our 25-year-old furnace! Flame gave a good quote and they carry reliable products. The guys came out and did a great job in December 2020, taking all precautions. Due to the pandemic it was hard to get immediate answers from their office for billing, and the permit/inspection plan was also hindered by the closure of town offices etc. Overall we were very pleased.

Very deceiving. Communication is next to nothing. Clearly the owner doesnt care about what his people are doing out there with customers taking advantage of them, verbally abusing them, trying to bully people around to manipulate you into anything that advances their agenda or way of thinking aside from all threatening behavior which an entirely whole different issue. Bad news. Stay away from this company.8

I recently called Flame Heating and Cooling to get an estimate for a new hot water to be installed. I got a call back from a guy named Tom, and he gave me one price over the phone, but when the written estimate came by email the price was totally different and alot higher than what was quoted over the phone. I emailed him back questioning the reason for the inflated quote and haven't heard from him since. It's been a few days now and no response. Poor customer service to say the least. If that is the way Flame representatives do bait and switch business, I'll take my business elsewhere. BUYER BEWARE!

I called on Sunday morning because my furnace wasn't turning on. It had worked the past two winters and it was getting cold so I figured I better get it handled. I had installed a Nest and figured that might be it, or the pilot went out of the furnace was done. They got me on schedule for Tuesday afternoon and Zack came out. They sent a text with his info and photo which I thought was a great touch.
He rewired my Nest because I didn't do it right and the furnace turned on. He didn't charge me for it because it literally took him three minutes. He spent another forty minutes testing my furnace, teaching me how to use my electronic filters (which I washed and they work like a charm!) showing me how my humidifier works and testing the efficiency of my furnace, which while it's 23 years old and rusty, is running at 93% efficiency!
Great news. I had called Randazzo and the call center girl I spoke with was kind of annoying and wouldn't give much information plus their diagnostic rate was $95, while Flame was $89. I feel lucky to have Zack!

I really don't understand the negative reviews. Maybe we've just had completely different "teams, " but I could not be more pleased with the service and the work done by Flame and the entire crew. From our first meeting with Bryan through the finish yesterday, everybody was professional, courteous and proficient. Flame replaced my furnace as well as my Central Air at a fair price.
Job included whole house humidifier and new digital thermostat as well. Todd, the master technician, Ken the electrician, and Austin, the intrepid young helper were all great. They worked NON-STOP from about 7:45 a.m. until the job was completed around 5:15 p.m.on a Holiday weekend SATURDAY.

Flame installed a new furnace for us a year and a half ago. They did an excellent job. Showed up on time, cleaned up everything, answered all questions etc. They were not the least expensive, but were competitive. They have been out twice to do maintenance service per our warranty. They do an extensive check. Tara, our service rep, was probably here for at least 1-3/4 hours.
They check all kinds of digital stuff, circuits, etc. Very pleased from start to finish on their job, the customer service and reasonable pricing. I would highly recommend Flame.

If I could give negative stars I would. This has been the worst experience. I needed a new furnace in January. I called FLAME and they were prompt with coming out to give me a quote and scheduling the installation. That was the only pleasant experience with them. The day of installation I took off work to have the furnace installed. The installation team did not arrive until hours after the scheduled time.
I sat in a freezing house for hours waiting for them to arrive. I called the sales person, Bryan Henry, he was going to accommodate me for the inconvenience. I never heard from Bryan again after that communication after multiple attempts trying to contact him. The install team did enough for the furnace to heat the house but still needed to come out to do more work. FLAME did not contact me until April to finish the install.
They came out again but needed more parts to finish the install. I received a call in May to collect payment, I explained the job was not finished and the customer service representative insisted the job was complete. After debating with her, they scheduled another date to finish the installation. On the day of the scheduled install, no one called nor showed. We're now in June and my furnace install has not been completed yet.
On July 19th I received another call apologizing for the no call no show and scheduled another day to complete the install. The install was finally completed on August 11th, when the original install date was January 31st. I spoke with a manager, Matt Marsiglio, he offered me a measly $250 credit for a $3500 installation job that took more than 6 months to complete.
No one has explained why this has taken so long or has taken ownership for the incompetence. It's completely unacceptable and I would NEVER recommend this company to anyone.

I would not recommend this business. The service techs will tell you one thing when they make the service call but when they come out and do the work. The price will be different. Then when you call the office and management to resolve the issue, they will give you the run around, ignore you or won't return your call in the hopes that you will give up. This is a very shady business and I will never use them again, nor recommend their service to anyone because of how they treat their customers.

Daughter and son in law used Flame Furnace in spite of my advice. Over the last two years they have had them out multiple times for loss of air conditioning and get and here we are again with no air conditioning on July 4th. When you spend $7500 for a complete new unit, one would expect it to work all the time. I would not recommend them ever because it's almost two years and they can't get this right ever. Owner is non responsive and won't take care of.

I've used flame several times for fall and spring tune-ups and loved them. Furnace broke a couple months ago though and I went with them to replace it. They came out quickly which I appreciated but installed it incorrectly. Overall, it took over 2.5 months for them to complete the job. They were nearly impossible to get a hold of and I was wondering if this would ever get resolved.
They eventually came out multiple times to fix and complete but they consistently showed up with the wrong equipment or fixed things in a way that broke something else. What's worse, billing kept calling to get the invoice paid. After I told them of the situation they apologized and said that they would not call again until job was complete, but that message never really got around. It was like rubbing salt in an open wound. Terrible experience overall. They've been great before but have just completely dropped the ball on this.

I would not recommend this business if you live in Detroit proper. I was told by the technician that he was a bit late because they are skeptical of Detroit appointments due to crime problems years ago and so my appointment was delayed (-1 star) while he "scouted" the location on Google Maps and drove by to make sure it was safe. Bear in mind that where I live is in an active part of town and has homes with median listing prices between $300-$400K.
I do understand the city's history does require an awareness for safety and common sense but a business more comfortable with the city and familiar with how it has changed would be more appropriate to service citizens in the area. Otherwise it appears as a double-standard in customer service (-1 star). Regardless of our zip code, all customers deserve to be treated with equal dignity & respect.
Another star is subtracted due to price inflation: the technician left behind the box containing the replacement part used to service my unit. I looked up the brand and model online and multiple websites listed the item for 10% of the price I was charged. I will give them credit (+2 stars) for correctly diagnosing the problem and repairing it in a timely fashion.

Beware my friends. My furnace was out Friday 12/6/16 Flame furnace said I had cracked heat exchanger and bad electrical box and they could not help me. They insisted repair so expensive I need new furnace. I had previously purchased a service plan from Flame yet they still wanted $49 for the service call! Then I called Family Heating and they fixed my problem for $160 in 30 minutes.
New igniter only. They saw only minor cracks in heat exchanger and no carbon monoxide leaks. I then had DTE come take an independent look to be safe. DTE saw no problem with my heat exchanger either. Do not trust Flame Heating. they are crooks. Please send your business to Family Heating & Cooling.

Flame literally stood me up. I had an appointment scheduled for a "comfort consultant" to come to my house and give me a quote on redoing my furnace ductwork. The day of the appointment Flame called me to say that they were "short comfort consultants" and that they would instead CALL me and give me a quote over the phone. I thought to myself "uh lol OK!" but I agreed.
I was told I would receive a call around noon that day, but I never got a call. I called at about 5:30 and spoke to someone and explained what happened, then they put me through to a comfort consultants voice mail. I left a detailed message and never received a call back.
