The first step in getting a new air conditioner installed is determining what size you need. You don't want one without sufficient power to cool your home, and getting an air conditioner that's too big can be more expensive and less comfortable. Smittys Air Conditioning also does replacements and as a licensed contractor can help with remodeling needs.
An annual inspection allows a technician to identify dirty coils and burned out contactors before they cause long term damage to your system. A Maintenance Agreement is the most common method of providing low cost maintenance and repairs to a system. This twice yearly evaluation provides an opportunity to examine your system, maintain its components, inspect for wear and tear, and ensure against uninterrupted service caused by breakdown and failure.Equipment covered under this agreement is for the number of systems on file with our firm whether it is one or more central systems.

After an $89.00 do nothing service call (when I had already told them over the phone what the problem was) Smitty's charged me an additional $471 to replace a fan motor that was under warranty. I had been told the part was covered but I'd have to pay for labor. Pretty cheeky and dishonest of them to bill me over $400 an hour! I spoke with Craig, the owner and he would not budge on the price. I paid it to be done with them but will NEVER use Smitty's again. Sad because my family has used them for years. Buyer beware.

I had my usual air conditioning check up every 6 months by another company! All of a sudden we were told the coils are bad! The warranty would send us new ones for 900.00 dollars plus another thousand for installation! He told me our air conditioner was not a good one ( only 6 years old) and so many other things that made me panic! He said we needed a whole new system!
Even showed me pics of the 'rotting coils!' I am not sure those were ours. and I can't climb a ladder up into our attic to check! I put down a deposit and we were going to almost get a whole other unit! He told me there was no hot air blowing at all and it's almost summer:( I was told to call Smitty's by a good friend before this other company came to install my expensive new unit!
She told me they were more honest! I wanted to cancel my other guy right away if they found out I don't need another air conditioner! Talked to the owner at Smitty's Monday morning feeling regretful I hadn't gotten other estimates! The owner sent his technician because he knew I was worried about spending so much money! He was very busy that day but the technician, Ben, came promptly that morning!
He spent over an hour checking everything and told us our air conditioner was fine! The coil was a tiny bit rusty but not damaged yet! Found out the warranty to my air conditioner would send a new coil for free ( not 900 dollars.) He said right now there were no leaks and the air worked fine when he tested everything! When and if there is a problem with the coil. he would replace it for only 549.00 as opposed to 2, 000!
He said we were fine and our unit was in good shape otherwise! He didn't think the coil was even that bad! Wouldn't even charge me a dime for his time! I knew I would be using Smitty's from now on! I called the other company and canceled immediately asking for my 3,000 dollar deposit back! The owner was so mad and gave me a story about how they already shipped it and I owed 1 to 2 thousand dollars for the shipping of my unit he ordered!
What a rip off! I refused to pay and called their Custy service so they will reimburse me after being told I was responsible for paying this fee! Smitty's saved me 6,000 dollars! Ben could have easily ripped me off but was so honest! I will never use anyone but Smitty's from now on! They have integrity when so many other companies want to play off the fears of people who are concerned about their home!
Especially people like me who don't know anything about air conditioners! Thank you Smitty's and the owner ( sorry I never got your name:) You and Ben are my hero's and will be servicing our air conditioner from now on! I am not working right now so this was an epic save! I would have been in debt! This happens to so many people! Learn my lesson. always get more than one estimate!

He couldn't believe this other company was going to charge me for changing my mind! He made my day and sent Ben right over! This is such a rarity these days! You have a customer for life! Good afternoon! My mom, Daisy, just had Danny out to her home. Oh my goodness. He is wonderful! My nine year old son followed Danny around watching, listening and learning. We've used Smitty's for several years. Always a good experience, but this one was the best by far! Our technician, Leonard, was very personable, professional and knowledgable. He gave me some great tips about how to make our HVAC system more efficient. We always get the annual maintenance plan. Its a great value and ensures we get our system checked out 2x each year. I highly recommend Smitty's!

My air conditioner was installed in 2005 by a different company. After the unit froze up due to packaging material that was not removed during installation I have had many different companies servicing it. They all tried to sell something, once I was told I needed a part that had been installed the previous year. I switched to Smitty's 2 years ago.
My technician Danny is wonderful. He is always on time, very courteous, very neat and I feel very comfortable having him in my home. As the unit is 18 years old my first question is usually "should I be buying a new system?". Danny explained although it was not working up to its full capacity it still keeps the house at a very comfortable 75 degrees so there's no reason to buy a new one.
Overall Smitty's is a great company with honest technicians who are experienced in their field. A yearly contract for 2 visits is priced very competitively. So glad I found them. Thank you to the team at Smitty's!

The Smittys person that responded to my review is wrong. As I told him on the phone, my customer copy written by Smittys tech Dan when our AC system was checked on 4-11-2016 noted in the comments "PMA 4 of 8". Similarly, the last time Smittys checked our unit on 3-28-2018, tech Seth notes in the comments "6 of 8 PMA". I believe we should have two years left on our multi year agreement, but Smittys is now denying this.

Scam new owner! He buys 2015 Smitty's Air and won't honor anything but advertise been in business over 30 years. Went to close on home but final inspection never done, can't close. Call him over a week no return call, finally get him on phone and could care less no inspection was done. Now I'm out of pocket for 2 inspection fees. Many other heat and air companies in Venice/Sarasota area.

I tell you if there were 10 stars available on a review, I would give this company all 10! From the nice lady who set the appointment to the man who did the maintenance of my unit. The tech, Mark was very polite, personable, and quite knowledgeable. My unit is 13 years old with some rusting coils. He didn't try to sell me a new unit. He explained everything he did, and why.
He taught me the proper care for an A/C. He answered every question I had and did his work promptly and very efficiently. All for FREE! As that is there policy for first visit of new customer's. Also, the 1 year plan, for 2 visits a year is a great price. I will tell you this, when my unit does go I won't let anyone else replace it other than Smitty's. God Bless your company and keep up the great work!

After 7 years of sub-par service from our previous A/C company, we had Smitty's install our new unit a year ago. They were more detailed in the bid, very clean and pleasant with the install and have done a fantastic job over the last year with keeping us updated on our scheduled maintenance. They have delivered exactly what I asked for during the bid process and we could not be more pleased. They receive a 100% recommendation from me.
