So far not so good. My service call got rescheduled 2 times and my AC isn't working as it should to begin with and they wanted to reschedule me after Memorial Day. They offer no compensation at all especially if I am purposely missing work because of this twice already. Now a third time. Again, so far, not so good service at all. We will see what happens on the third go around.

We have been using Elm for almost 10 years and they have always been responsive, prompt and reliable but we just had our annual service and Boris our technician was terrific. He is by far the best technician we have ever had. He took the time to explain what was necessary. We have a filter that is not standard size and Elm has not been able to provide us with the special measurement filter so we have made do with the filter we are given. Boris measured it to attempt to attain the proper size to potentially order the special size and even showed us how to tape the current filter in place so it could work properly. After all these years a simple trick of taping the filter in place solved the problem. We couldn't be happier with the service we just had.

We had a ductless unit installed in the lower level of our home yesterday. The two gentleman who did it were Moses and Andres. They were polite, efficient and fully explained how to use the system and how to maintain it. We were very pleased with their service. Have already recommended this company to others. I had a new a/c system installed to replace the a/c system that Elm A/C installed 22 years ago. Everything from the initial call for an estimate to the completed job went smoothly with no problems. I had my heat/air handler and compressor replaced. Everyone was very professional and helpful at gathering and providing information. The installation was done in a timely, efficient, neat, and question accepting way. The installers, Scott, Moses, and Willy, knew what they were doing and also were careful about the surroundings in which they were working.
Bill researched info to give me advice as to my best options for equipment, and Brittany and Susan always followed up on my phone call concerns. Al professionally assessed my work area and advised me of possible strategies that would help me know if I needed repair or replacements. This is obviously a team oriented place that functions well.

I wanted to write a review about our experience today with Elm Air Conditioning. First of all I have to say Cathy and Scott were wonderful to deal with. Cathy provided us all the information we needed regarding our permit requirements and Scott was very honest about the work that needed to get done. We were scheduled for 10/7, but they had a cancellation and we were able to have the work done today. Eric arrived on time and was extremely professional.
His team, Billy, Moses, Andre and a few other guys. I didn't get all of their names, as there were several of them working in our home today. There were about 3 trucks and several guys because alot of work was getting done today. The duct work needed to be replaced in the attic. We were also replacing our ancient existing unit. They were all very nice, professional, easy to work with. Eric answered all of my questions and was made sure everything was running smoothly.
He checked all the vents and was kind enough to fix one that fell off recently. He showed me where the handler was located and how easy it was to get to the handler in the crawl space attic. I never go to the attic, but wanted to see the work that was completed. Billy and Moses were very personable as well. They cleaned everything with a shop vac, our home was spotless.
You would have never known they did work today. They did an exceptional job. I was very pleased. It was nice to have our central air again as it has been broken for the past few months. We have been using Elm for many years and have been completely satisfied with their professional experience. We just installed two ductless ac units and can't be more thrilled. JR, Billy and Brian were very informative and immaculate with the installation. We will continue to refer them to anyone needing their services. I cannot say enough great things about Elm Air Conditioning. From the moment I spoke to Cathy, I knew we made the right decision. Cathy was a pleasure to deal with, Cathy was efficient, friendly and answered all the questions that I had. Scott came to our house to give us an estimate, he was punctual, knowledgeable and honest. The work crew worked tirelessly, they did not stop once to take a break, and they would not even accept a glass of water.

Loved everything about ELM from my first phone call to the completion of the job. Why? 1). Outstanding customer service and professionalism displayed by the employees. Before the install, I worked with Cathy and Scott and my installers were JR and Bill. They (all) were polite, friendly, knowledgeable, attentive to concerns and very available to questions after the visit/install. 2). Installation Day Smoothness - JR and Bill were skilled workers who were very neat/clean, respectful and arrived on time. 3). ELM was Highly recommended to me by family members who had used ELM for installations as well as maintenances work for many years and had no complains. (One person had used the company for over 20 years and spoke of the consistent, solid service the company still delivers).

Who charges for them to come out and tell me something isn't working? I know it's not working that's why I called you guys to fix it! And then the invoice comes in, they charge 129.00 for the first half an hour of them telling you it's not working. The billing department is very rude, Susan has a very nasty tone to herself.

Hello from Scanlon's Traveling Salon, LLC. Elm came highly recommended to me by a client of mine who had ductless AC / heat installed in her home. She was delighted with them and over the moon happy with the end result. I then called them and set up an appt. to have rep. come and explain what would be needed and provided. Kathy (the wonderful person who set up our appt. ) was awesome, patient, kind, ultra professional and "light hearted." Superior interpersonal communication skills.
As a small business owner, I appreciate excellent customer care. The sales rep came over who was also super professional, mindful and articulated the process and what was needed in basic terms for me to wrap my head around (I'm not very domesticated!). I set up the appt. for installation and just two weeks prior to moving forward with the installation, I had to cancel the install due to the owner of the home going into a group home (I'm the Trustee and guardian).
I could not move forward if my ward is placed in a group home prior to installation. All of that said, I called Kathy and explained the situation and she was so kind, empathetic and completely understanding of "life happening." as inconvenient as life can be and getting in the way of our plans, "stuff" happens. Kathy was awesome about it and authentically concerned. I'm disappointed that I could not move forward with Elm because they seem so "superior" to other co.'s and "master plumbers" that came into the home to quote a ductless unit. My client's AC/heating unit works amazingly well and I'm sure mine would have also. My experience leading up to installation was fabulous. Highly recommend.

Was told my split air conditioner fan was dirty and not moving enough air. When the curtains on the other side of the room are moving and it wasn't even on high. So I remove the fan and cleaned the evaporator core it wasn't That dirty at all. This pictures from the core in an already dirty bucket. So they just want to get a service call to tell you it's dirty so you can make another service call so they can come back and clean something that wasn't the problem. Then another service call to come fix it. Sounds like a scam to me

They came yesterday for a so called service call. They did not service anything. He literally opened the air conditioner. He did not touch anything and said it needed a cleaning. Now mind you My husband cleaned the filters last week so we know that was not the problem. So I then said we'll are you going to service it today? And he said no we have to make another appointment for him to come back.
This transaction only took 5 minutes. We were charged $140.13 for literally 5 minutes and then we would have to pay them again for another visit. The man had a terrible attitude from the time he walked in my home until he left. We later found out he was the general manager. We will never do business with this company again.

Waited all day for afternoon appointment for yearly ac check. Finally showed up at 6pm, no phone call. Technician argued about wearing a mask. After serving my mom's house for over 50 years, they did not bring a big enough ladder to access the attic. This should be in the records. Had to reschedule for another day after wasting a day. When I called to reschedule, the receptionist was argumentative, and not at all apologetic. Rescheduled and waited for second appointment. Then got a call that appointment was cancelled as tech called in sick. Again service person was nasty on phone, blaming us for not knowing how to use the AC.

My daughter purchased a 100 year old wood frame colonial with an ancient steam system for heat. We called Elm and Scott came and proposed a new high efficiency Mitsubishi system for both heat and central AC that eliminated the steam completely and replaced it with a fully ducted system, super quiet and efficient system. The installation was done cleanly and quickly - there was a delay in getting started due to ongoing Covid restrictions and equipment supply delays, but that was to be expected.
The installation qualified for significant LIPA rebates and ELM filed all the appropriate paper work for permits and the rebates. The system is fully electric, and with the cold winter is keeping the house very comfortable. The electric bills so far are showing significant savings over what the steam system would have cost to run, and each room has it's own registers keeping the heat even throughout the house.
In addition, the bulky steam radiators and boiler and large pipes are all gone. We haven't tested the AC yet - that will come in a few months, but I have no doubt it will function great. Highly recommend ELM and also recommend their high efficiency Mitsubishi systems for heating and AC.

If I could give a below one rating I would. The office manager hung up on me twice actually three times when i asked to speak with the owner. My AC is 11 months old and i have a contract. It has been broken for 5 days and no one comes to fix it even though i told them i have my 89 year old mother and young grandchildren here. It is less. then a year old. they should have come immediately.
The service man came and although he was polite, he went into my two yr old twins room to get into the attic without a mask on. He walked through my home without a mask. He now tells me the part has to be ordered and was faulty and the office would call. I not only didn't get a call, but the office manager hung up on me once again because i insisted on the owner calling me.
The office manager informed me ever so rudely that it is a machine and machines break. I should have back up plans. I actually assumed a contract was a back up plan for a new AC Unit. Today the owner called and will not fix my unit because i wrote a bad review. He felt talking at me last night was appropriate. Beyond angry

Elm installed ductless air conditioners/heating units. They were flawless. The split units are great-- quiet, efficient and nice looking. Elm gave us a contract and all was covered. They helped us to get local permits and everything went smoothly and on time. Elm recommend a house doctor who works with them to close up the old opening and make all repairs inside and on the exterior of the house so that there's no trace of the prior wall air conditioners. It is such an improvement over the ugly, noisy prior units.

Where should we start? With the nasty lady on the phone or the robbery of 300 dollars an hour in labor. The service at the house took 2 hours as we have him on camera showing up at 9:17 and going to his van at 11:18. He sat in his van for a half hour and left. I get a bill for 2.5 hours of labor for 672 dollars. When I call to question how they get more money per hour then a doctor number one and why he charged me to sit his van for a half hour the nasty lady on the phone proceeded to tel me that he wrote up the report and I'm charged for that.
I said you mean to tell me it took him 30 mins to write up a bill for cleaning to units? She said well you don't know what he did while he was in there. I said neither do you that's the point. This company is a bunch of crook because they know they got you and show no mercy. They don't even do it with kindness. Do yourself a favor call around before you use them. From the beginning, the communication between us and the office was not well. Fist diagnostics was charged. (union labor charge) second technician came to installed the damaged parts, but found out it was not working. And third, technician came again and swear it was fixed, but again. I was not fixed. We received all 3 invoices and 2nd invoice was paid onsite.
We have contact office numerous time from us as the problem was not fixed. But most of the time we were told, you have to speak with manager but he is not there, or he will call you later. but we never got call back. We wrote all the details of incidents on letter and mailed to the company. Finally, Manager called my husband and disputed all pending invoices although being good customer, we have paid the diagnostics charges as well.
I called other company on same issue to fix the problem. They came and within 15 min they totally fixed the problem and the charge was way less than 1st invoice of Elm. Now, it is about 3 month later, ELM is sending me PAST DUE invoices. It seems like the First customer credit which was "supposedly" applied to 1st invoice. Enough is enough. No other customer should experience that we have experienced.

The central air in my house was not cooling down all the rooms evenly. I had another company come out and tell me my system was old and would likely need to be replaced. They left without checking the ductwork and told me they'd send someone back the next day. Fast forward 3 weeks later and despite assurances and multiple appointments, no one ever came back. Based off the recommendation of a neighbor I called Elm.
They made an appointment for 8am to 1pm the next day. At 10 am the technician appeared. He quickly diagnosed that a duct was detached from one room's vent and simply reattached it. There was another vent that was closed and he opened it. Within minutes the house dropped 2 degrees and has continued to maintain a cool temperature in all the rooms.
He took a look at the system and said it was not old at all, and in very good condition. I was expecting a potential large bill but it was only the cost of the service call. The technician was extremely professional, efficient and friendly. Will not hesitate to use them again.

STOP! Don't call them if you know what's good for you! This company is the absolute worst. Let's go down the list of offenses: 1. Showing up late at night for a call they were supposed to have been at earlier in the day. To add insult to injury, they got mad at us, the customer, when we weren't there. Not so much as a phone call to say they were going to be late.
Then they wouldn't reschedule for another few days. Yeah, forget that we have young children in the house and they forced us to live in sweltering heat. despite our service contract. 2. Fake service. Again and again they've shown up for a call and claimed they couldn't fix it that day and returned over and over again until finally it was "fixed", only to break down soon after. 3. Driving a service truck across my grass at night to get to the system in order to shine their headlights on it for illumination. Ruined my lawn! 4.
When they re-did the air system in my attic, their people trampled across all of the wires rendering our security system inoperable. 5. Argumentative, belligerent, and hostile owner. His assistants in the office emulate his behavior. I could go on and on, but you get the point. This review isn't an anomaly. Just look at all the others below. Worst company I have ever dealt with! I called them in early June to look at my upstairs AC unit which wasn't working. I was charged $180 for that service call where the tech told me he couldn't do anything and had to come back to identify the specific problem. It took another visit, 17 days later, for the tech to come back and identify the leak on the upstairs unit.
He told me I needed to call the company for an estimate for a repair. The next day I realize my downstairs unit wasn't working anymore. I panicked and called them to find out why when it was working fine the day before and now all of a sudden it was broken also. (Mind you the downstairs unit was only 2 years old so should have been fine and was fine until the tech came).
They told me that the tech didn't touch but would send someone the next day. That night I realized he had unplugged the power source to the unit and didn't plug it back it. I tried to call and cancel the appointment but the tech showed up anyway. He said that I wouldn't be charged for that visit and that the first tech was incorrect and I most likely needed to replace the whole upstairs unit.
I called for a quote and spoke to the owner Bill. He told me it would only be $3500 to replace the unit. He was trying to sell me an older model that if something broke I wouldn't be able to repair because they don't make the parts for it. I attempted to call 3 times and got no return phone calls. Two months later I receive a bill for almost $600 for "work" that was done.

By far one of the wort companies out there! They truly rip people off. They charge $99.00 PER HALF HOUR and don't get the problem fixed in one day. So far I was billed over $800.00 from this compAny and my air condition still does not work. They now want to come back a third time to do more testing to see if they can fix the problem. I asked the technician why he can't do all the testing in one day and he said it is not done that way.
I am now down $800.00 and still no a/c. Being pissed is not even how to express how angry I am at this company. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE trust these reviews. They are a complete rip off!

I hired Elm Air Conditioning to install a Mitsubishi Ductless Split A/C system in my home. I called and arranged for an estimate. Scott arrived exactly at the time promised. (very rare with contractors these days) He gladly answered my questions and sent me a quote within a few hours via email. I had a few additional questions on the equipment and the specs, which were answered quickly and accurately.
After several other estimates from other companies, and others who never showed or never sent an estimate, I went with Elm. I am very glad that i did. The installers arrives on time and were very polite. The team of Quan, Brian and Al were obviously experienced and explained everything to me. They were meticulous, professional and personable. I cannot recommend them highly enough! Cathy, in the office, took care of all the paperwork and was also very nice and very professional. Elm is a home run. You can add my house to the other reviewers who had their ceilings ruined by Elm. Long story short, they improperly installed the air handler for the central a/c in the attic. Three cracked primary pans and two ruined ceilings later, we are now having their air handler removed after only nine years of service and replaced by a new one from another company.
And Elm can't blame anyone but themselves for this. They installed it and up until this year, they maintained it. At least, that's what we paid them to do. We fired them at the end of last summer. Oh, and the people who complained are spot on about how rude this company is. One of their managers got very nasty with my wife last summer when we complained that they had ruined our ceiling a second time.
And here's a real topper. We filed an insurance claim to recoup some of what we spent. When our insurance company contacted Elm to see about getting our deductible reimbursed, Elm claimed to them that they don't have insurance. What? How is that even permitted. If that's true, they should never be allowed to operate anywhere. Please spare yourselves and your house from this company. If Yelp had existed when we were looking to install our central a/c and we saw these reviews, we would never have hired them.
