We've used Van Natta many times at many different properties. They were always expensive but usually did a good job and showed up when they said they would, In the last 2 years that has all changed. Because they have been so busy they no longer care about long time customers and their pricing has gone through the roof. Recently we literally begged them to fix the AC in the office of a major tenant.
They quoted us a very high price which we agreed to pay out of desperation. Then they told us they couldn't come for 45 days. Three weeks have gone by and yesterday the tenant exercised his option to leave. They had been our tenant for 9 years

We had replaced cooling and heating system recently. Everything was done professionally and efficiently. The amount that was charged was exactly the amount that was quoted with the rebates and discounts offered. Workers were always on time and cleaned up all the mess after the work was done. Definitely will use again but hopefully not until after 20 years. :

I have used Van Natta on several occasions previously and although they are a bit expensive I was satisfied with their work. Today I had scheduled a routine maintenance service for the furnace that Van Natta installed a couple years ago. They sent a guy named Mark. He was surly and gruff from the moment he entered my home. He complained about there not being enough light and was mumbling stuff I couldn't really understand.
I asked him if he had brought light with him and he gruffly said he would have to go out to his truck and get it, I told him if he was going to speak to me disrespectfully and didn't want to do the job to leave. So he left again mumbling something not bothering to close the door behind him. If you decide to use Van Natta make sure not to get this guy. I think I may try to find a different company, it looks like they've gotten too big to care about a small residential customer like me.

My AC died on Sunday around 8-9 PM. I called them having never been a customer before and was told their on call hours are only until 10 and they were booked but the tech Mike said he'd call me at first thing in the AM to let me know he was coming. Well he didn't disappoint. Called at 6:30, arrives by 7:20 and had everything fixed by 8:30. So thankful for him. VanNatta was the only one to even return my call or commit to coming the next morning out of 7 different "24/7" companies I called that evening!

Absolutely the worst, they did all the plumbing in my new house and it has flooded twice. To add insult to injury, they cannot even show up for scheduled appointments and forget about them taking care of the emergence they caused. I ended up having to get another plumbing service both times. Both Steve and Barbara never can commit on a time or day.
Last time it took 3 weeks for them to respond to an issue. They do one thing good they know how to bill, even if they don't supply the service they still bill. FYI: they have automatic charging if it is after hours. The level of ability is quite low and it normally takes 2-3 different tech to finally solve a problem.

We chose Van Natta because of the great experience we had when they replaced our A/C and heating system in our home. However, the A/C replacement at our townhouse has NOT been a positive experience. The old A/C cooled the house better than the new system they installed. It simply shuts down at various times, house gets really warm, and several hours later a/c eventually comes back on.
This has been an ongoing issue, and the 2 times the Techs have some to see what issue is, is has kicked back by the time they arrive. Tech came this morning for the final inspection, he said he needed to do a few things before town inspectors came. When he left at 9am, the system never came back on. I called Van Natta come back, they arrived at 2pm and of course the system has just started to cool by then. They can not figure out problem. I took screenshots of the temps from 10am to 2:30 to show how the temps were rising for 4 hours even though it shows its cooling.

You should be aware they don't stand behind their installation after couple of years. So I had two units high efficiency Furnance/AC installed at my home they work beautifully, Carrier, however they choose to use a copper condensing line and not neutralize the acidity of the water. My condensing line corroded and I had water issues, after taking to Van Natta they basically say that not their problem.
I talked to different people and they told me that it's well know that high efficiency units produce acid water and ideally even for the pump you should remedy that, using neutralization kit or installing a pump who is able to handle this kind of water and not use copper lines for that. So if you choose Van Natta do some research, ask lots of questions, and review all the work yourself or assume the problems after the job is done.

Some very nice people in the service group when you call - Al and Barbara are terrific. They communicated the service quote to me and I had some questions about previous service and asked if maybe I could get a little better pricing due to them providing me similar services on four prior occasions. But after being a loyal customer for over a decade, Steve, the service manager was not willing to return my call to discuss a labor quote for a recurring plumbing issue that they provided good service for me on in the past.
They quoted me $1300 for something they did for $700 in the recent past. I did the work myself in 2 hours - after they tried to strong-arm me into accepting their service. When I declined their service for this price, they told me to go find someone else. I did find someone else - myself as I had taken the day off of work to be home when they were scheduled for service - and I had my hot water back 2 hours later.
They simply weren't interested in helping a loyal customer by providing a more reasonable quote. And their technique was to ignore my calls until the day the tech showed up. Sorry, Mark, not your fault. If you want to go back to the 1950's and get treated like a clueless homeowner and pay unreasonable prices for a commodity service, then these guys are for you. If not, call anyone else who will actually treat you like a customer whose service they want.

Twice I have made appointments for my air conditioning to be serviced. Twice, the appointments have been disregarded. When calling for the first appointment, the wait time was five weeks, but we scheduled it anyway hoping there would be an earlier appointment available. The date came and went with no appearance. Today, I sat waiting for my newly scheduled appointment.no show.
I called and patiently waited after being put on hold for 8 minutes for a response that I was not scheduled. The extreme unprofessionalism and carelessness of this company is truly remarkable. True, they are a noted name in the industry but not for the right reasons. I am discouraged and disgusted by this company who truly does not care about customers and their word of mouth recommendations. I guess they have enough business. I would not recommend this company to anyone looking for air conditioning service.

I had the opportunity to work with Van Natta this week after the very hot day, my A/C stopped working. Called them up, they came out quick, identified the issue quickly, worked to get the replacement back quicker than expected. Can't say enough good things. I highly recommend them. My Thanks to the whole Van Natta team for the quick resolution.

I do not write reviews, but I will make an exception for this horrible company and its horrible employees. I placed a maintenance call for my Dectron, the technician they sent did the maintenance and left with a huge bill, after he left I realized it was not working properly so I called them again. The same technician arrived and when I explained the issue he opened the price list and asked if I am willing to pay "first diagnosis fee" since obviously they do not need to check what has been done after "maintenance".
We are talking about $1000 of total billing to give the idea of how absurd the service is. When I tried to reason with him, he put the price list very close to my face and raised his voice saying "Are you going to pay or what!". I was speechless with his attitude and couldn't even say a word while he turned around and left the house. The whole thing happened in like 3 minutes and it made me feel very unsafe and uncomfortable.
When I raised the issue with customer representative, the next technician they sent obviously came only to take revenge of his coworker's bad review, not working on the problem and instead blaming me for using the machine wrong - the same machine that I've been using perfectly fine for the last 6 years until they did an unsuccessful and very expensive maintenance on it-.The second technician left the house without even looking at it after he put the blame on me. This is not a company you want to work with, they operate like mafia: they scare you, ask for big money without any job done.

I would not recommend them. They caused a hole in a pipe when they had to use a blow torch to replace a bathtub faucet and they refused to take responsibility for it and blamed it on the Home Depot part! Home Depot on the other hand was terrific and they did not play the blame game and sent one of their plumbers right over to fix it. Can't say enough about Home Depot.

Had a spray foam insulation service done in our basement recently. Mike Gonzalez was really informative and always responded via email quickly. They are prompt with arriving on time for appointments. After product looked good and we could feel the difference. Wasn't cold any longer. After service no one followed up with us to see if all went well or there were any concerns.
That was the only tiny downside that resulted in 4 stars and not 5. but other than that they were great and friendly. Will def. use them again down the line for other projects.

Van Natta installed central A/C in our old (built 1900) house. It was a challenging job that took them about a week. Their guys were very professional and they did a very good job. They cleaned up after themselves each night and always asked for our guidance for key decisions. Their price was also very reasonable.

These guys are terrible. Each guy knows less than the next about heating and air. I have 2 units in my house one for the master bedroom and the other for the rest of the house, We have been having trouble with the one in the master bedroom in both the summer for AC and winter for heat. It has been well over a year now and Van Natta are the folks that installed the original unit so if anyone should know how to fix it you would thing it is them.
Think again! They have probably been out there 4-5 times since last summer and each guy has a different guess as to what is wrong with a larger price tag each time. Last time they were out there they replaced both of the roll out switches and changed me close to $500 for it. A bill I refuse to pay as the roll out switch pops at least once a week if not more and needs to be manually reset by me after carrying an 8 foot ladder through the house each time to the bedroom.
On top of that they no longer think the roll out switches are the problem and suddenly want me to shell out $800 to fix some valve that they magically think we now fix the problem. MY issue with this is why should i pay the first bill of $500 if nothing has been fixed and what guarantee do I have that this new valve will fix it. So I told them I will make them a deal they fix it and I see it is fixed for a few weeks I will gladly pay for the new valve.
Until then they won't see a dollar from me. They better lawyer up as I am not paying for crappy work that fixed nothing so far. I would not recommend using them to anyone in the Mahwah NJ area.
