In 1972 Mr. R.T. Kay contracted from a local heating and air conditioning some 300 customer accounts on a full-time basis to do service work. In 1985, Randy Kay and Robert Hamlett expanded their North Carolina HVAC company to a building on English Street. From talking to Melissa who scheduled the appt, to the one that came out to repair my A/C on a 92 deg day - it was seamless, super professional and quick. He also pointed out some tips I need to do better to maintain my 16 year old A/C for a few more years and not try to sell me a new one. Courteous (shoe sleeves) and very helpful. I can not recommend Kay Heating & Air more!

We called Kay when our 20 year old AC unit began to fail. I spoke to Walter and the very next day he had a technician out to our house to inspect our current unit. After the inspection Walter contacted me again to give me their assessment. He was not pushy at all but he suggested that whatever money we put in our old unit would simply be buying time.
Because of the age of our old unit this was not a surprise to me so I asked him for a couple of options. Very quickly he was able to give me some options on a couple of different brands of heat pump. Ultimately we went with the York heat pump at a very reasonable price. He ordered the unit and scheduled the installation for yesterday. Their lead man in the field Jason called me when they were on the way first thing in the morning.
Their entire crew was knowledgeable, polite and tidy and by days end we had a brand new heat pump working flawlessly. Walter stopped by to check on progress and he, Jason and the rest of their team answered any questions we had with complete professionalism. We contacted Kay because the other company we dealt with previously on our HVAC system would not return our calls.
In this day and age when it seems like that type of service is the norm rather than the exception Kay Heating and Air Conditioning is a breath of fresh air. (No pun intended) My wife and I could not have been more impressed that we were with the service and price from Kay and my only regret is that there are only 5 stars available to give Kay Heating and Air.

Kay Heating and Air has done exceptional work in our home. They are very professional and careful to all details. We have had duct work wrapped, service of existing heat pump, and recently they installed two mini-split units in our upstairs area. Their service is great and I highly recommend them. Hands down, fantastic customer service! Our AC stopped working in the middle of the night, called Kay first thing in the morning, and they went above and beyond to get here the same day to help. The tech was friendly and incredibly efficient. It was pouring rain and at one point we even lost power. He stayed outside in the rain and made sure our AC was fixed! I highly recommend.

I have had multiple dealings with Kay. This company is a prime example with what is wrong with heating and air conditioning. From dishonesty to overpricing. I have seen multiple charges for repairs that were never made by a technician. This company thrives on sending incompetent technicians to your home that are unable to fix your AC just so they can sell you a new system or send another technician out to charge you again.

We have a mini split system and tried a few other companies to fix our A/C before we finally found Kay. Tyson came out to work on it for us and he was phenomenal! He was quick, efficient, and worked hard to troubleshoot the problem. We will definitely be using Kay in the future for any and all of our mini split needs! Thank you!

Warranty is worthless and shoddy installation. Purchased a heatpump and installation in 2011. This cost about $8,000. I alerted Kay Heating that it buzzes (vibrates) loudly when heat is on. They did nothing to fix the vibration. One year later, the motor breaks, most likely due to excessive vibration. They charged labor for the fix. Asked them to fix vibration issue, they did not.
The next year the inside coil breaks (most likely due to excessive vibration), they charge $600 to fix. Asked them to fix vibration issue, they did not. Next year a valve breaks (once again, possibly due to excessive vibration)and they want $900 to fix it. Every year since I've had this thing it has cost hundreds and hundreds of dollars to fix, plus the hundreds of extra dollars spent on electricity because the thing DOES NOT WORK. I've had one of their guys come to my house smelling like he just got done smoking pot.

Kay installed a whole house unit and a split unit in our home. We had some problems with the split unit, but Kay was there johnny-on-the-spot to fix it. They are very professional, well organized and stand behind their work. Everyone from customer service to tech's and everyone in between are wonderful to work with! I highly recomment them!
