Selecting a company to install your AC equipment is just as important as choosing a brand. An air handler delivers comfortable conditioned air throughout your home. It works with an air conditioner to circulate cool air in the summer. Or, when paired with a heat pump, it circulates cool air in the summer and warm air in the winter.

I wanted to know how my A/C unit was doing going into a hot summer. I didn't realize it was as old as it was, but they talked me through exactly what they would do, even if that meant holding out or buying a cheaper unit if we weren't planning on staying for very long. I never felt like I was trying to be sold something that wasn't needed. I would highly recommend them to anyone!

Always have had a great experience with this company and have been working with them for years. They repaired our old A/C and replaced it when it was time, during which we added an intake vent that really improved air circulation in our home. Yes, an owner may show up when you call, not common these days. Exceptional service and a pleasure to work with. Highly recommend them.

HilCo Mechanical is an outstanding local company that I've used for years. They have done regular maintenance and even replaced our air conditioning system, during which they added an intake vent that really improved air circulation in our home. The whole staff is awesome, but special shout out to Betsy for always communicating when it's time for our biannual tune ups (as well as letting us know when they're on the way) and to Brian who I think has met pretty much my entire family here in Phoenix. Highly recommend them.

The team from HilCo Mechanical did an outstanding job as usual with the installation of our new AC and heating system. We have utilized their services it the past and they never failed us. They are professional, courteous, honest, friendly, and knowledgeable. I never once felt like they tried to upsell. I highly recommend HilCo as your HVAC specialist. You won't be disappointed. Support local business.

HilCo serviced our previous AC unit many years ago and installed our current AC unit just about 10 years ago. We have always received great customer service and expert maintenance (and repairs when needed). They call in the morning and again when the crew is on the way. Don't be surprised if one of the owners is part of the crew. How often does that happen in today's world? Thanks HilCo, you are appreciated!

I know absolutely nothing about air conditioning, except mine went out and I called a 24 hour place and got financially taken. I was recommended this company and was SHOCKED at how honest amd forthright they are. "Your air is out?.be there in 15 mins" and they were. Spent hours in the heat and my house blows cold again. Oh that other company? I got a 8900 quote for a subpar unit. Honest. Hardworking. Prompt. Friendly. Integrity. And frankly super affordable for a very pricey part of your house. Best 5+ star review I happily give.

I ask HIL-CO AC for an estimate on a 19 years old split unit replacement, they send a guy to take a look at the unit at the house and he give us the prices for the replacement, they were good, the only thing I do not like was the way he said he do not care what other contractors said about the installation, he does the things the way he liked, do not give me wrong, I never said nothing questioning the way he was going to install the unit.

Let me begin with the positive. The communication was good with Hilco and I have used them before when my AC went out, they were a contractor that my home warranty company used. They were also listed on the APS qualified contractors list. Now to the negative; beware of hidden fees with this company! They came out and looked at my house and AC and recommended a few different units.
Without going into the attic they quoted me a price giving me a ceiling and a floor price. The ceiling was advertised as the maximum cost. They came back a second time and went into the attic. At this point they said it was going to need additional duct work and the max price would need to be increased by $170. Ok, sounds fair. They told me the price prior to the work and I agreed to it.
The day they came to do the install, I was at work and my wife was at home. They told her that the wiring was bad in my attic and would not support the new unit. I do own a house built in the 50's. She asked what the price would be to run new wire and they didn't have an estimate but told her that it would be a major safety issue to use the existing wire.
This is where you have to watch this company. When I got home Brian told me about the wire. He said he wasn't going to charge me for labor and would only charge me for materials. I asked him how much and he said he wasn't sure until he got back to the office. They came back a few days later to finish the install and the price for the wire was over $400 to run 75 feet of new electrical wire.
I called my electrician and he said the wire should not have been more than $100 even with a mark up. When I called Brian at Hilo back he said there was a mistake with the invoice and that $85 of it (labor) should not have been charged. They sent me back a check for $85. People, trust me, they charged me $300 for wire without quoting me in advance.
That plus the metalwork was 570 above their max quoted price. 10% hidden fees. Despite that, I'm still giving them two stars because the work they did was solid and many of their employees were friendly and non intrusive. I'm not saying not to use them. I'm saying to get the price guaranteed before you do work with them. They will throw in costs when you are already underway. I'm opening a case with the Better Business Bureau for the over $400 in non quoted electrical charges.

I recently had my AC units serviced and the fan motors replace. The repair technician, Brent, went out of his way to check if the motor was under warranty and pickup up the part from the manufacturer. The prices are fair and they not pushy about selling you on repairs that can wait if funds are low. The crew was friendly and very professional. Luis (Goodyear, AZ)
