Better Comfort Systems, Inc., is a Massachusetts-based, full-service HVAC service and contracting company established in 1985 by founder and company president, James P. Schiavone, Jr. Back then, our company boasted only seven service people and six leased vehicles. However, our desire to be among the best of the companies in our trade has helped us provide unsurpassed product service and installations to our customers.
A significant amount of Better Comfort Systems' employees measure their association with the company in decades rather than years. The company and its President James P. Schiavone Jr. value and respect the input of each and every one of its corps, no matter whether they've spent 45 years or 45 days within the industry.
If you should ever require emergency service, Better Comfort Systems will respond to the call with a well-trained, licensed and uniformed service technician. In keeping with our company motto of "You Call, We're There, " our service department will adhere to a three-hour window for emergency service.
BCS offers emergency on-site repair within a three-hour window. I have been a customer of Better Comfort Systems since they started their business. I knew the owner, Jimmy, from his former employment as a HVAC technician. He designed and serviced all the ACs in my manufacturing plant. I have performed service, each spring, on my three central units and one Mitsubishi split unit. I am a believer in preventative maintenance.
It has paid off as Better Comfort Systems kept a GE central unit going for an unheard of 40 years. Their personnel are very cordial and well versed in their trade. I have called them in the middle of a heat wave, telling them it is not an emergency, and a technician will show up the same day. They are the best.

As a design engineer, we had Better Comfort on many projects over the years with great satisfaction, so starting about 10 years ago I have used them for my primary home, vacation home in Cape as well as investment properties. They are excellent value, excellent workmanship, timely, and outstanding follow up service.

Tim and James from BCS installed our IQAir system and we are so happy with their service and the product. As a physician, indoor air quality is so important for health. Seriously they charged me $515 for two hours work. They sent me a brand new technician on a service call he spent all his time with his survivors on the phone I get it we all start new jobs and there is a learning curve on all jobs but too send someone out to your house with no experience and without a surpivisor disgusting. Sent him away already have a new company coming to my house on thursday.

Better Comfort Systems was contracted to perform a simple maintenance task on each HVAC unit in my apartment building, something that would take no more than 15 minutes per unit. They made a simple mistake with the whole job, leaving several residents without heat or hot water. Instead of stepping up to rectify the issue, BCS blamed residents for the issues with their HVAC units, leaving us in the cold (literally) for two days while our building's management pleaded with them to fix their mistakes.

They give you the run around only to keep you hanging. I chased them for weeks to get a quote to replace my condenser. When Mike Rivard finally came to look at it he said he'd have a quote for me the following Monday or Tuesday. That was two weeks ago and I still haven't gotten a quote. I get they're busy but have some courtesy. Be professional!

The company has TERRIBLE customer service. I had my unit serviced by them and they do have nice technicians. After already having paid for service and just ONE week later my AC stopped working during the summer. I went to try to turn it on and it started smoking and the smell was awful. It almost appeared to be starting to catch fire. I was really concerned so I called the emergency number--no one ever called me back.
I had to go sleep somewhere else at 1:00 AM due to the smell and concern for my safety AND it being so hot. I called the company the following morning. Their "only" customer service manager proceeded to argue with me for 15 minutes. Never ONCE apologizing for the inconvenience or showing any concern that I was up until 2 am dealing with this and genuinely concerned my AC wall unit was catching on fire.
He proceeded to argue with me about every aspect of my service even at the end saying "So you want me to send someone or not." Arguing about how long the tech had been there previously. I have never experienced anything like it from a customer service manager. I personally believe if you spend money with a service provider they should have some level of service and kindness to their customers--this company does not.

We have been using Better comfort for one year now and recently we were told our sensor on the heat pump is not working and would need to get fixed. We weren't told that it was urgent and needs to be fixed right away, it was just an assessment. Our heat suddenly went out one week later and the service guy came inspected, did nothing and charged us 210$ for the number of hours he spent.
I asked the technician what he did and is there anything he had diagnosed and he himself said he did nothing. Few hours after he left, the heater completely stopped working. I feel robbed, because now I don't have heat and despite paying 210$ I got no service? There was no guidance that it could have been the sensor. The technician said he still does not know if it's the sensor that caused the issue. Apparently I need to dish our another 200$ for the next visit. Very disappointed with the service and seeking alternate options.

Years ago I called this company to fix a commercial refrigerator. The company I usually use was backed up and couldn't come by for a few days. To my relief Better Comfort was able to send someone over that day. WHAT A MISTAKE. The guy was pleasant to talk to and said his family owned the business. He said I'll look at it for $400 but I can't make any guarantees.
I was stuck so I wrote him a check. He didn't hook up gauges to check the Freon. He only used a comb on the coils and basically said I'd have to come back another time for an additional fee. He didn't even diagnose the problem! I'm so dumb for not putting a stop to the check and it still pisses me off to this day. I told my regular HVAC guy what happened and he fixed my refrigerator right away. I'm really just shocked at how I was treated. When I saw Better Comfort Systems on Yelp I figured I'd share my experience.

Better comfort systems came right out and took care of my no heat call. The tech was very nice and took time out after the call to tell me somethings I could do to keep my system in better shape and also show me how to program my t-stat which saved me some money on my heating and electric bill this month. I will be calling them again as the tech also told me about there great maintenance program. I will tell all my friends and family to use them. Thanks BCS
