Richard's was recommended to me and I'm very happy with their service. They were responsive and scheduled me for a replacement HVAC right away. They arrived on time and were done in a matter of hours. One of the installation guys stayed to test the system but my thermostat was not working correctly. It too needed to be replaced but that was not part of the scope of work so he didn't have one on the truck.

I called the office and they scheduled a time in the following week but not 5 min went by when i received a call from the installation manager saying that he has a thermostat and can be there in 10 min to install. He did and the unit works perfectly. After being jerked around all summer by another company these guys came to the rescue.

Big thank you to Sharpe & Richards for making us a priority this morning we got back from camping on Sunday to a house that was 83 degrees, we called night service around 4pm and was called about 8am that Sharpe would be there before 9. Great service & professionalism he had it fixed within half an hour we highly recommend Richards Heating & Air Conditioning

Had an installation done by this company; basically they do it in a way that you will be chasing your tail to fix the problems in the unit and will be completely dependent on them to fix the problem. Questionable business ethics.

They fixed my furnace the same day (in two separate visits), but the tech wasn't friendly and clearly wanted to replace rather than repair. When he was here and performing the repair, I listened intently and heard that the furnace was running very quietly/smoothly. As soon as he left, the furnace began rattling and is making me feel nervous that the repair won't last. I won't be able to use them again.

I used Richard's to replace my HVAC a few years ago. Since then, I call on them for service, and they have been exceptional. They respond quickly, do the job efficiently and price fairly. I would highly recommend them.

Richards is the absolute best! From the first phone call to the completion of the job they were professional and caring! After a horrible experience with another heating and air conditioning company who didn't show up not only once but twice the prior week Richards proved to be the opposite end of the spectrum! They called to let me know the techs were on their way.

While they could've installed a universal igniter it was not the exact one the furnace needed so they located one in minutes went and got it and installed it! That is true customer service and caring! I cannot recommend them highly enough and just wish they did business in Prince George's County as this was at my parents house in Arlington County that I am cleaning out. If I could give them 10 stars I would!

It was an absolute pleasure to work with Richard's. I worked with John Smith, one of the owners, to get an estimate for my new water heater. He took a personal interest in helping us find a perfectly sized water heater for our small space. And he researched to figure out how to get us an extended warranty. He did not charge to come and check out our strangely configured space, as many others wanted to do.

The guys showed up exactly on time and installation was a breeze. John actually came out mid-day to see how it was going. The guys did a great job and cleaned up before taking off at the end of the day. Highly, highly recommend this company. Will work with them again in the future.

I personally made an appointment for 11/21 and the person who I talked to gave me the 8-12 time frame. My husband stayed at home waiting for the technician who never came, and when we called the person at Richards said it wasn't on the agenda. This is unacceptable, unprofessional and frankly disappointing, I've been a loyal costumer for more than 10 years and I'm sorry to say that the quality of your service has gone downhill. I Hope you take the proper steps and avoid this from happening again

First, this is a review for an entire AC system put in several years ago. Have had various problems over the years and now system finally failed. In every case, other company technicians that came out to check the system pointed out how utterly amateur and crappy the install was: from the pan under the air handler being way too small for the unit. and not even an overflow switch off which then allowed water damage down from attic, to doubling up capacitors instead of using the correct capacitor, to exposed wires on compressor. WTF?!

As I look back and being a hands on kind of homeowner watching / learniong what's being done, I'll never forget the 'technician' / installer was constantly on the f'g phone asking someone 'what do I do now?' After posting this review, I decided to read the others. Conclusion: Stay away from Richard's Heating and Air Conditioning. THEY SUCK!

We are very, very happy Richard air-conditioning customers for 10+ years. And we continue to be impressed by their service. We recently had an issue that required a lot of attention to detail and patience, and we were so happy that Richards stuck with us to find the problem and solve it. Their techs are top-notch (thank you Herbert and Sharp!), and thank you to Richard himself for his personal involvement and interest in getting it solved.

I am really surprised at such a mediocre rating for Richards, my experience was stellar. I found the owners of the business to be highly experienced and knowledgeable. Jim heard my requirement of needing to replace the HVAC system and the water heater in my condo over the phone and knew exactly what I was talking about and even gave me a quote over the phone.

He did come in the next day to take a look at the existing system and said that it was exactly like he imagined it. Later I got an official quote from him which was the same as what he had quoted over the phone. The quote blew every other quote out of the waters. There was another company that I got referred by Home Advisor which was actually 50% more than Richards AC Company!

I wonder if the other company was going to install gold plated pipes instead of copper pipes!;- It took them a full day and a half to get this job done and were a highly professional crew. Best part is they were the only company that did not ask for a deposit or anything just the fact that I confirmed with Jim over the phone was enough. I verbally confirmed on a Friday and they started work on Monday morning! Such an excellent experience that I don't think I will ever go to anyone else for my HVAC and plumbing needs!

Richard's installed an attic furnace and AC unit the same day. They did an excellent job! We got 3 estimates for the same equipment from established hvac vendors and they were significantly lower. They were professional, punctual, clean and scheduled the job quickly. The Sales person explained their work culture and I felt comfortable with everything.

They also sent two teams so they were done earlier which was nice. I have some experience with HVAC installations and I am so glad I called them! I recommend them strongly and would use again!

I can't believe Richards' wanted $125 'diagnostic fee' just to show up. I asked if is a minimum fee in in case I didn't want the work done or if it was something super cheap like a loose wire. Nope, the $125 is on top of everything else like labor and parts. I called one of the top rated companies on yelp. no such charge. I called Richard's back and cancelled my appointment. At least they let me know about the fee ahead of time.

Richard's has been servicing my residence and rental home for 10years and I had to end it today. I called for an appointment at my rental home and was advised that they have a $125 fee just to show up. I was so befuddled. I asked if that amount was applied to the labor and material for any work done and was told "no." I'm very disappointed especially since I just had them to my home just a month ago and was charged no fee. What a shame such a good company has to make such a poor decision.

I called to request a technician visit because the ac was not blowing cool air. The technician came the next day while my wife and I were out of town so our adult son handled the matter. When the work was done, my son called me so that I could speak with the technician. I was advised by the scheduler when I first called that there would be a $125 Service Call fee.

At the completion of the visit, I was advised that the charge was: $125 - Service Call $40 - Miscellaneous (?) $25 - Warranty Fee (?) Two additional charges that were not mentioned at the time the appointment was made. I was at a conference and did not have the time or desire to challenge the tech over the phone and figured I'd address it when I got home.

When I called, after a little hemming and hawing, I'm told there is a standard $40 charge for Saturdays. Nice try.they came on a Friday. The very polite young lady put me on hold to confer with the service manager. When she came back she advised me that the $40 was a Labor Fee. I guess they are going to find a way to get that extra $40. I've requested a new, correctly itemized bill for my records since the original reflected $170 Service Fee. 'IF' I have to call for servicing again, I'll be sure to get ALL the charges upfront. I recommend you do the same.

I don't know that I've ever had as good an experience with a repair service as I have had with Richards. The technician that serviced our unit when it went down was a guy named Sharp. Sharp was thorough and personable and he did a great job explaining what the problem was. When we shifted from heating to air conditioning a few days later another problem surfaced, which they came back and fixed for only the cost of refrigerant. I got my unit fixed and I got an education on how HVAC systems work from Sharp. I'd recommend Richards in general and Sharp in particular any day.

Ricahards's recently replaced my complete air conditioning unit. I have used them for over 25 years and their work has been outstanding. In the past they have replaced the furnace, air conditioning and water heater. When I need service they are always available to fix the problem promptly. Their technicians are polite and always work neatly Thank you for great service!

Richard's is a standup company that has been responsive and reasonable with us in a time-sensitive situation. We had a gas leak in our recently purchased home and Richard's came out quickly to help us. Even though we weren't able to determine the best course of action in the first visit, Richard's put their team quickly to action in a follow-up visit that solved our gas leak problem with certainty and let us get back to living comfortably (w/ hot water, dishes, laundry, etc.).

I appreciated the straightforward attitude and respectful approach they took to our situation and its cost. I felt like I could communicate easily with them and they understood my perspective in trying to achieve an economical solution to the problem. Genuinely good contractors are hard to find, and I believe we found one with Richard's. Thanks for helping us out!
