American Heating's engineering staff consists of two licensed Professional Engineers (PE) holding stamps in the states of Oregon and Washington, two mechanical engineers with Engineer in Training (EIT) designation from the state of Oregon, and several AutoCAD/BIM drafters. Great company to work for. All of the foreman from the install department are knowledgeable, patient people to work with. The superintendent I worked for (Lee) was flexible when I needed time off, took time to teach me, was on time with giving 90-day and annual reviews, and above all else ORGANIZED. If you are a good worker, this company will reward you. Leaving American Heating was one of my biggest professional mistakes.

Beware. they come to do a repair, and add their driving time to your place from wherever their last job was, and to their next job. I asid, hey you were here 45 minutes, you put donw 2 hours, and he said, oh dont worry, ( yikes) i have to log in my drive time. LOL. then they dont put an amount on the bill, the " so called friendly" repair man saying he doesnt hanlde the bills but please sign he was there. LOL. They did not repair anything, and are a bunch of con men. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. They are dishonest. watch out folks.

I had American Heating Inc. come out to my condo unit to diagnose and repair an AC that was leaking oil and fluid (they do commercials bldgs and condos but NOT residential BTW). I couldn't be HAPPIER with this company, both in turn-around time and in customer service. Shawn, my repairman was incredibly knowledgeable about AC units and heaters -he was personable and able to patiently explain to me what was going on with my unit in a way that I could easily understand.

From the friendly service team to repair, this group really seems to have a lot of integrity which goes along way in my book not being that mechanically inclined - I feel like I can trust these guys and would HIGHLY RECOMMEND to anyone.

This isn't a review on their business but on their employee's ability to be a mature functioning adult. For 30 minutes this morning I was tailgated with Highbeams between Sandy and Clackamas. I understand some people are just A-Holes but when operating as the public figure of a business one should realize they are representing more than themselves.

Due to this mans poor judgement and inability to function like a decent human being I am going to let my contractor contacts throughout the Portland area that this company is employed by immature, impatient children.

Our ac stopped working the morning before the worst heat wave of the year (Of course). Luckily we were able to get an appointment right away. Phil was right on time and very thorough. We ended up just needing a simple part, but it turns out our unit is some off-brand and they didn't have the right size. Even though I'm sure they were busy, Phil had someone make one that would fit and then drove all the way to SE to pick it up. The temperature was going to be 105 that day, so he definitely saved the day! Thank you!

My experience today around 3:30 pm a man driving an American Heating van with ladders on top ran a stop sign making a left onto 72 nd ave then sped through a residential neighborhood with speed limit of 25 in which I was travelling when he was way too close for comfort running his stop sign. He made a left turn without using his blinker I finally caught up with him when he had to stop at the light taking a left onto Hall, again no blinker.

I then took a picture of his van. He is older man, about 45 to 55, glasses, spiked grey blond short hair. It is not worth injuring someone for any individual to save a few minutes. This neighborhood is full of children, joggers, and walkers. The large speed bumps try to insure that but he strattled so that only one side of tires went over and he could go faster.

Our heating completely stopped Thursday night. Today, Friday morning, I called American Heating and by 1:00 Lane was here to address the problem. Although the ultimate repair could not be completed he was able to get the system up and running over the holiday. Lane was through, clean, and clear in his explanation of the problem. Second time using them with great results.

I will never try your service. Any company that provides a company car to a person like your driver this morning clearly doesn't value customer service. I watched this guy tailgate me and several other people during 5:45AM traffic so aggressively that I seriously considered calling the police. As I honked at him, when he finally decided to go around my car, he flashed me a NASTY look and continued on to harass others.

Too bad I couldn't see his license plate number but unfortunate that his company name and phone number was blasted all over the vehicle. Good luck with finding work with an employee like that.

We used these guys for our heater and a/c installed. The installation went great, but when it came to the heater unit the guy(ROB CLAWSON) who was in charge of getting it put a huge markup on it. I would be very careful of who orders your units and demand pricing for them before you order.

I live in a condo in Portland. Last winter the heater stopped working so I called for a repair. I was told that someone could maybe come out the next day, probably two days. The next day I get a call from the dispatcher telling me that a tech could come that afternoon, great. I get another call later saying he's on the way. Over two hours later he arrives, checks the unit, and tells me I need a new condenser.

He can't give me a quote, the office does that, so I wait for a call from the office. Three days later I call the office because I have not received said quote. The person responsible was not in so I had to wait over the weekend and still call back on Monday before I received a response. Then I was told the delay was due to him trying to track down a condenser in town, to no avail. We'd have to have it rush shipped and the total cost would be around $2100.

I also got billed for that two hour commute from Hillsboro to the Pearl in non-rush hour time--what the hell? In the mean time I called Portland Mechanical. They sent a tech over the next day who did some diagnostics and told me the coolant was low. He refilled it, heater worked fine, just under $200 total. They are the only company I will ever use in the future.

Jonathan, the boiler Tech has gone above and beyond what we have ask of him. Taking the time to explaining to me, showing me, and recommending to the necessary repairs. Answering all my and annoying questions while at the same time maintaining his professionalism. Knowing that when he says he will be here at a certain time, he will show up 15 mins early to the scheduled appointment.

The building I live in recommends we use this company and they have been used by many of the owners, but yet they have no record of what size filter would need to be used in a unit which is the exact same unit as about 75% of all units in the building, a building which has been around for 15 years. They didn't have a record of what had been used in my apartment, but they did have a record of the unit next to me, which is identical to mine, of course the guy shows up with a filter that doesn't fit. $335.00 later to replace a filter (not rocket science) because I had to pay for him to be the first driver out, which I did so I could get to work, the appointment was for 7:30am, he showed up at 800 and then I got charged for his drive over to the filter place to pick up the correct filter, plus his hourly charge.

Why would they ever show up with the correct filter, when they make so much more money showing up with the wrong one? He knew I was getting ripped off, he seemed to feel bad about how much I was being charged for such little work. This company sucks. I hate businesses like this. DO NOT WORK WITH THIS COMPANY!

I'm a real estate agent and had to use them today because they're a 'preferred vendor' of the condo complex where I sold a unit. They nickel-and-dimed us to death. Instead of carrying a variety of filters in their truck like everyone else, they wanted to charge hourly to go to the store and purchase one at a $30 markup on top of travel time. So my assistant picked one up instead.

He recommended a chemical coil cleaning be done in the future. I asked if it was necessary now, as this was for repairs needed to close on the sale. He said no. I asked that the invoice reflect what he performed and not future recommended service that is irrelevant to the transaction. Not only did he include it on the invoice as future service needs - which gives the parties something irrelevant to argue about, but he charged us for the time he spent arguing about it. I hope this review grants them the same hassles they visited on us today. If you decide to use them, be sure to bring plenty of nickels and dimes. you'll need them.

I'd give them ZERO stars if possible, they earned it! The previous owners of the property I bought used them to service the HVAC and the master bedroom fireplace. They claimed the fireplace was fixed, but when we finally took possession of the house, the fireplace was still not working. It should have been because nobody had touched it since they "fixed" it.

So I called them and asked them what was wrong and they said they can't speculate over the phone, but said they would send someone out to turn it back on. The rep I spoke with said we wouldn't be charged since nobody was living at the house and had touched it since it had been "fixed" the first time. Unfortunately I was at work when the worker came and got it working again, so I have no idea what they actually did.

I then received a bill for their visit, which didn't even explain anything that they did to service the fireplace. So I called and was flat out told that nobody ever said it would be free and that there was nothing that they would do to help. I asked to speak with the manager who was a complete jerk and would not be reasoned with. What I don't understand is that I was a brand new customer with whom they'd already worked at the property before for the previous owner.

Yet it was more important to get the $150+ payment for something that never should have happened in the first place over a long time customer who definitely would have spent more than that down the road. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!

Two workers came into my apt with uncovered work boots on. They didn't check to see if they were soiled and even made a comment about my Persian rug they just walked on it with their boots! I remove my shoes in my home so I expect foot coverage for any workers who enter my home. I called their service department n was referred to a woman who acted like she had never heard of disposable booties! Really?!?

Besides the lack of professional presentation this company has been working on an air conditioning problem for over a month with no results. I'm sure they are milking the management company for hefty service charges/

First try, I was supposed to meet a guy at noon. At 12:35 I called to see where the guy was. Answering service, they're all out to lunch. Perfect! I waited until 12:40 but had to leave. He finally called at 12:45 to tell me he was here. I told him I waited but had to leave. He replied "well, I just got done with my other call". They could've called me and let me know he as running late.

I rescheduled. Second try, this time for an 8:00 appointment, first call of the day so they wouldn't be late again. At 8:15 I called their office to find out where the guy was. She said he'd just called in and there was a wreck on the freeway. Funny, I just listened to the traffic report on the way here. I don't recall anything about a wreck.

The traffic cams don't show any wrecks. He arrived at 8:30. Frustrating! One hour and 15 minutes waiting, 20 minutes driving to and fro, twice and I'm one grumpy girl. I guess if you're hanging around your house all day they're fine. But if you work, forget it. They need to call and advise when they're running behind.

Our service guy spent two hours 'researching' our business AC problem just to simply replace the filter and then charge us $343 bucks! We got taken to the cleaners. do NOT call these guys, even if you are desperate!

I have never had a service be 20 minutes late and then charge me for it (!).and, take over 2 hours to figure out a valve needs to be replaced. I went to another heating company and they fixed everything within an hour!
