I had a really interesting experience with the technician who came to our house to look at our AC that wasn't working. His first diagnostic required a broken part and a several thousand dollar repair. He said he wasn't able to do it that day but could have the company schedule it later in the week. I didn't understand the issue but worried about the rising temperatures told him to go forward.
He attempted to sell me a regular service plan but I didn't purchase, gave him a tip and said thank you. About 30 minutes later I went outside and found he was still on my property going through my external unit. He said he thought he could fix it that day for a few hundred dollars. I still didn't understand what the issue was, what changed, or the fix, but expressed gratitude if he was able to do which he was.
So far my AC continues to work well and will follow up here if that's not the case. I don't think he was trying to cheat me, but if there was a better way to understand the issue(s) and what he did to fix it I would be much less suspicious.

We have used Yellow Dot twice in the last few years. First to replace an HVAC unit and then to replace a gas water heater. Both times all the people arranging the services and the technicians installing the units were timely, professional and the quality of the work was high. In particular, the plumber installing the water heater stayed until 7:00 on a Friday to finish an emergency installation (our old water heater had started leaking) so that we would have hot water over the weekend.

This is my second time using this service and this is the second time I have came away impressed with the quality of service provided. David Ray was my technician both times and his professionalism and quality of work are both top notch. Not only was he able to diagnose and fix my issue quickly, he also provided insight on why and what he would be doing to fix the issue. I trust David's insight and will not be looking anywhere else for other services as well. Thank you once again!

Yellow Dot came with the house we built here in Apex. I thought about shopping around for other companies but who knows our house better? No one! Friends gave us names of the companies they used but we said that we are very very happy with Yellow Dot. They're professional, thorough and on time! They will often check our system while they're here to make sure our units are doing well, not to mention giving us tips to keep our system running "cool"! Kevin came out yesterday fixed a small problem and gave me a quick education on why what happened happened.
We are very confident that we're in great hands! Oh yeah, the friends who loved their HVAC companies now use Yellow Dot too! Go figure! Now we're ready for summer! Thanks Guys/Gals! Jeff K.

Recently, I had a Spring Cooling Maintenance Service Appointment and all the techs, A/C, Plumber/ and the Electrician provided prompt, friendly and professional service. I really appreciated the courtesy call before each tech arrived, and the end of service chat. I am so happy with my decision to have preventative service.

I called to confirm my appointment since I had scheduled months earlier and hadn't heard anything since. Technician arrived several hours late without any notice. He was pleasant during the appointment. Both thermostats were left on the cool setting after the service appointment despite it being winter. I caught it a couple hours later after noticing the chill.

They said to call me 1 hour earlier when scheduling window so that i can be here. but they didn't call me and said the phone number was wrong. the technician went and tenant open the door. they replaced something not related to the problem without consulting me first and charged almost double price. After seeing Brian's reply, I called him at the number he left and discussed the complaint with him. Brian investigated the issue by listening the phone recording and talked to related persons and confirmed the issue on their side and So he then offered me to only charged the fee for fixing the leak and diagnostic fee and then he credited the remaining balance back to me.
I am happy now as it is now reasonable and really appreciated Brian took customer complaint seriously and fixed the issue promptly. Mistake/error does happens sometime, taking customer complaint seriously and fixing the issue like Brian did really help build customers trust relationship and grow the business.

Run the other way! My 2nd floor has multi zone control. One of the duct control flaps was leaking or not closing causing one zone to overheat. They came out and wanted to charge me around $800 to replace the whole flap unit with motor. I did not pay and cut into the duck later and saw the problem was simply the stopper had fallen off. Trip to Home Depot and $5 later it was fixed. The point here is the tech from Yellow Dot knew this, but gets paid on ripping you off.

Excellent job "all around". Josue was right on time for the estimate and quoted a reasonable price for replacement of our aged and non-functional gas hot water heater. Equipment drop-off was punctual as well. Josue did an excellent job, took the old water heater with him, and left the area clean. I'm very happy with the new water heater and the quality of Josue's work!

I have installed my own thermostats several times but when there's an unforeseen problem that's outside of my expertise I try to rely on experts. I discovered a problem with my thermostat during installation and documented it so I could explain it to the tech. The lady on the phone was extremely pleasant and took down all of my notes so that the tech would have them when he came to the house she did inform me that it would be $99 for a diagnosis I told her that was fine and asked if she could invoice me in my email and she said yes.
She also said the tech was also going to be fully equipped to solve the problem going forward. So I was prepared to pay $99 to explain what went wrong fully knowing that there could be an additional cost. While I was at work the tech arrives at the house and my wife let him start working within a short time he tells her it's $99 + $125 but he didn't know what the problem was.
When I speak to him on the phone he said his boss said it's another $125 to fix it but the tech still hadn't told me what was wrong.why would I pay you an additional $125 when you haven't even done what the $99 was going to cost me? Of course the job was done in less than an hour because one of the wires wasn't drawing enough power. So now I was going to be out $224.
I told them when I made the appointment to invoice me and I would pay it I wanted to review the detailed work and discuss the entire cost given that it wasn't a $224 job but instead he decided to take payment via credit card from my wife. So now I'm out the money with no recourse to discuss it with a "boss" about how he ripped me off. The tech had the audacity to tell me that the problem was due to my setting it up in the app wrong. but when all was said and done the app worked fine and it was an electrical issue. He gets 2 stars because he fixed the problem but was a rip off on the cost and rude telling me it was my fault when they didn't even know what it was in the beginning.

Called them last week with a furnace issue, got through to a very personable customer service agent who took down all of my details. She then proceeded to tell me at the end of the call that "dispatch" would call me to set up an appt etc. and tell me when they could come out. I expected to hear something within 30-45 minutes. Almost 6 hours later they called me.
At that point, I'd already hired someone else who had fixed the issue and was just leaving who used to work for Yellow Dot. Needless to say, I told them the call back was too late. This is not the company it used to be.

Don't use this Raleigh, NC, company. They shouldn't even get one star. Even when they make appointments using time-frames of 3, 4, or 5 hours for FULLY PAID annual HVAC maintenance contracts, they don't show up and/or they don't call to keep the customer informed. If you insist on an actual appointment and not a 4 or 5 hour window, they will simply lie and say, "yes, you have an appoint at such-and-such time." That will not be the truth.
And you may not hear from the technician until hours later.if at all. Missed "appointments" just puts you back in the queue with another hours-long "time-frame" appointment they may or may not honor. In addition, their "process" with a maintenance contract once they've got your money is to send out a postcard (that looks like an advertisement) saying to call them and make an appointment.since the visit is already paid for. But, trust me.if you don't call them for whatever reason, they won't call you to schedule what you have already paid for.and your "already paid for" maintenance visits will be completely ignored. It's of no concern to them. It's like they think they have done their job simply by sending out a postcard that can so easily get buried amongst all the junk mail you receive.
They don't check back with you. If you don't see the card and call to make an appointment, you don't get the service you have paid for.it's no concern to them, they have done their job. This is how they treat customers who have not only been with them for years, but have actually bought a home HVAC unit from them and have had them install it. Loyalty, or long-time customers.doesn't make a bit of difference.
This company is no longer the same company I worked with for years. And the people in the office are arrogant, rude, inefficient and unprofessional. Not to mention that scheduled appointments made through these people seem to "disappear" from the schedule. So you wait through one of their hours-long time-frames only to have them not show up and then tell you that there was no appointment.
If you are looking for a responsible, customer-oriented, reliable, company for your maintenance contract, this is NOT the company to use. Go elsewhere or you will just be throwing your money away and ensuring a great deal of frustration.

My mom had a new furnace installed almost a month ago. It is still not working. She has been told it has been fixed over and over, but it is still not fixed. She is in her 70's. This is utterly ridiculous. She also gets the run around from management. They do not call her back, instead a receptionist. DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL.

After 3 quotes from different HVAC Companies we decided to go with Yellow Dot Heating and Air Condition. The process from quote to installation had its bumps that were overcame with agreement between all properties. Working with Jeanette and Nelson was a pleasure and they even price matched another HVAC service provider to keep the business local. Installation took 2 1/2 days with 2 technicians. Pleased with install, but we need to make the pad look better than how the HVAC technicians left it.

Surprise! It's almost October and never heard from a manager. Actually had someone call and say that it was time to get our unit maintained. Told him about my issue with Yellow Dot and poor service and he was apologetic and would have the manager contact us and still nothing. Poor management and poor service. I would never use them again. I advise you to do the same.

They came took diagnosis fees $106 and gave me aquote for the repair, I submitted to my home warranty and got the approval, called them again to do the job as quoted, they asked for another diagnosis and dispatch fees $106 in addition to fixing the capcitor and charging as quoted previously and when I tried to understhe logic behind charging me more than the quote, they hang up on me.disrispectful, greedy and doesn't respect their own written diagnosis.

A nice gentleman from Yellow Dot was at Lennox supply house this morning and noticed that they didn’t have the capacitor I needed to help my girlfriend’s brother who just had a baby and was without air conditioning. He saved me a ton of time by offering a capacitor to me. I am super thankful! Great job Yellow Dot team member! (I didn’t get his name).

Quinn was great. He showed up early did a thorough job. And when I told him what problem I was having he identified it right away. Something other techs with the previous company Santa Air brushed off as user error. He showed me I had some burnt out wires that was causing the system to cycle on & off. They are not the cheapest HVAC people out there but I guess you get what you pay for. In this case quality workmanship & very knowledgeable.

Jeanette Fitzgerald. Very professional service and quick response. Jeanette set up our appointment and stayed in contact to let us know when technicians would be arriving and followed up with any after actions needed. Technicians were polite, knowledgeable and were able to perform needed repair quickly. I would recommend Yellow Dot to anyone needing services in this area.

Electrician came out for second visit as we had same problem as before. Literally took him 15 minutes to figure that out and fix it. As it was associated with the work done previous there was no charge. He's great because he did try price gouge or make things seem more than what they were. Excellent integrity.

The heat was not working and we had someone coming to put a temporary fix, unfortunately the next day there was a smell like mold of humidity, but we called and got all our questions answered and also another technician came to double check it was nothing dangerous. We are still waiting for the permanent fix but we think the service is good and they get things resolved.

It's a very Dishonest Company. I don't want to give even a Single star. Our AC stopped working ( No cold air coming in), so when we called they sent their technician to check and after looking at the AC unit outside he said due to high pressure the fan got shut down and once restarted it worked but still were are not getting cold air as he was about leave we asked him to check again as we are not getting cold air from the Vent then he came in checked and said that Zone board has issue and said the part need to replaced.when we mentioned that we still have warranty they said they are going to cover the part and we have to pay the technician for the service.
We paid the Technician on the same day. Then we waited for the part for the next 2 days with out any status update.when we called back they said it will take few more days and today they called us and tell us that their Sr.technician is going to come on Friday to check again. So were they lying to me from past 6 days when they said they ordered the part last week?
I don't even want to talk about the customer care/receptionists they were very rude to me. when I asked for their manager they said she is in a meeting and when I pressed that I would like to talk to her they said they will send me an e-mail / or she will call me back its been more than a week I never received a call from their manager. I don't have a choice to change as I paid but if you have a choice think about it.

Yellow Dot is the worst HVAC company I have ever worked with. They installed a completely new Heating/Cooling system in my new house. I have had them out three times during the first summer to correct a leak and damper issues. Now that we are into our second summer with the new unit, the AC won't cool the upstairs. A new system should not have this many issues.
Now they want to start charging me because the system is out of warranty. If I have to pay someone, it sure won't be these guys. They are more expensive than the competition, do sub-par work, and use the cheapest parts and components. I would avoid doing business with this company.

NEVER AGAIN! Day 1: Began having troubles on a Thursday at 4:30am. Called Yellow Dot that morning and was told a technician would be out Friday morning. Day 2: Technician arrives Friday 6:30pm. Parts needed and will be out Monday or first thing Tuesday to install. Day 5: Called Monday - parts ordered. Will be out Tuesday or Wednesday to install. Day 6: Called Tuesday - parts received and are in the back.
Will be out at 8am Wednesday to install. We were assured the technician would be on time, if not early and reconfirmed this since we had to take off work in order to be at home for the repair. Day 7: Wednesday at 8:30am - no technician. Called and was told technician had to go elsewhere to pick up the part and would be on-site at 9:00am. Thought the part was received yesterday? Tech arrives at 9:10am and completes work.
Our experience with the technician was pleasant and we found him to be cordial, knowledgeable, and attentive. The people we spoke with on the phone were borderline rude and condescending. In all we spent 7 days, 6 nights without air conditioning on our 2nd floor (where bedrooms are located) while temps were in the mid-90's and humidity was through the roof. There was no sense of urgency from those we spoke with at Yellow Dot and no attempt to prioritize or go out of their way to speed things up. Disappointing to say the least.

Terrible and dishonest company, I wish I could give no stars, they replaced my WiFi thermostat while I was away on a trip without my authorization and never gave back to me saying they never took it and meanwhile charging my landlord $300 for a cheap $25 replacement thermostat which by the way it was the same thermostat I replaced so it was the used one, today the A/C still doesn't work, aweful company, unethical, dishonest and inefficient!

I had a problem with my thermostat, yellow dot had done the installation 2 yrs. ago so I was told they had the warranty info. I called and was told it would be 105.00 for them to show up plus labor. They were here for 29-30 minutes, they snapped the defective thermostat off and snapped the new one on. Then they charged me a total of 262.00. 105.00 for service call and 157.00 for 30 minutes of labor which equals 314.00 an hour for labor.
They won't return your calls. All this for an 80.00 thermostat.i don't have a problem paying for services, but this is price gouging. Avoid Yellow Dot at all costs.!

On August 30, 2018, our first-floor a/c stopped cooling. I called Yellow Dot Heating and Air, 1203 N. New Hope Road, Raleigh, NC 27610. We have a/c for the second floor as well, but it was cooling. They came out 08/31/2018. I was told that there was a service charge of $95 for diagnosing, checking the unit(s). The technician would not check the other unit unless he was paid an additional $80.
I had a problem with that. A capacitor was replaced in the downstairs unit for a charge of $230.00. I was not given the replaced part. The only invoice provided me said the part was used and did not provide a description of labor/parts cost breakdown. I have called and asked and emailed numerous times. I get no response. Such capacitors run between $20 and $60. The repair person was here 30 minutes and I get no explanation of the charges.

I have been a customer for 15 years but am switching. I had 2 appointments for preventive maintenance and they never showed up during the 4 hour window. I wasted 8 hours of my time. No apologies from a Yellow Dot. I learned that they have changed management. They probably will lose many customers who remember when Yellow Dot was a good company.

We called today (40 degree day) when our heat cut out. The thermostat didn't seem to have power and we tried all the google suggestions. There was a company sticker on the furnace, so we decided to call Yellow Dot. Thomas come out within two hours and diagnosed the issue in seconds. It was $90 ($40 with coupon online) for him to come out (no extra for weekend visit), plus $120 for him to fix the disconnect switch.
He fixed the switch in about 10 minutes. He said it was very common in our neighborhood, not the first he's fixed out here. He did a great job showing us what the issue had been and what he fixed. Was polite, took shoes off, etc. We'd have him back for sure. We did need to print out the coupon for him to take back to the office (maybe an issue for other people to do, not for us). I'll have to update the review after we have them back for a cooling tune-up this spring to see how our experience compares to others.
We did sign up for a maintenance plan since we do need a tune up anyway. Hopefully our experience it more positive than the reviews here. Definitely was cautious with them coming out because of the poor reviews.

Called Yellow Dot to come diagnose our blower not working.technician was there for about 15 minutes ($96 dollar just for them to come out and look) and said we needed a new blower motor, which was not available and had to be ordered. The order process took over 4 days, mind you we have a 2-month-old, with no status updates from Yellow Dot. The receptionist(s) were extremely rude and would not (probably could not) provide any relevant information on when we could expect the technician to even come out. You have a choice when it comes to air repair and I would advise against using Yellow Dot.

Right now, if I could rate Yellow Dot lower than 1 star, I would. Our AC went out last evening. They claim to have 24 hour service. When a technician called me back after I called for service, he said he didn't think he could get out last night. I called an hour later to see if I could get anyone out and he said he wouldn't be out. I just called again this morning (7:15 am) and the person who answered the phone suggested I call back at 8 when their normal business hours begin.
Yellow Dot's website claims that they have 24/7 service. I have a maintenance agreement with them. What is the purpose of this kind of service if they are unresponsive when you need it most? This is completely unacceptable.

I cannot recommend this company in any way. I had them out for a routine tune up to prep for the Summer heat. During the visit, the technician attempted to get us to buy a piece of equipment we don't need and get another replaced at an astronomical markup. Our dual run capacitor needs to be replaced and they wanted to charge $215. When asked how much of that was labor, the response was "we're a flat rate company." Translation: we don't want you to know that we're charging you $88 for a $17 part.
On top of all that, when I said I would think about it, he said okay, but if they had to come back there would be an additional $50 charge. Look, I get it. They're a business, but that is gouging plain and simple. There's no excuse. I'll pay for expertise and knowledge, but reasonably. I now know for a fact this part can be installed in about 5 minutes. Based on the math, they would be charging me at a rate of $1,500 per hour. No thanks. Keep looking and find a company with more integrity.

Biggest rip off I have ever experienced in my professional carpentry career. I needed emergency service, and I understood that they charge 135$ just to show up. They made sure to tell me that after every call after I got piped through the system. But after waiting for almost 2 hours after one person tells me they are on their way only to find out, after calling again an hour later, that the service man is finishing a job and will be heading to me soon?
This was on a Friday at 5:30pm. Then when he finally arrived after I had removed the compressor cover, after turning the thermostat off and removed the service disconnect from the electrical panel on the house that was powering the unit, and realized that the capacitor (the small soda can shaped silver cylinder) was obviously the problem because the top which is usually flat was popped upward like a shook up soda can.
Because I had hours with Google and common sense. After a 30 second inspection. The serviceman confirmed that it was the capacitor. I then asked if he had a replacment, he did, but it would be an additional 200$ to replace it. So for a 15$ part, and for him to remove 3 contacts that slip off easily, remove the capacitor and put the new one in the holder and slide on the contacts was 200$!
I was so appalled how a company can take advantage of a service that people do need, but they are gouging their clients. 335$ to replace a capacitor is robbery. How about understanding that 135$ is already paid because the service man is there, and charging like 50$ additionally to fix a capacitor for what takes him less than 20 minutes from pulling up to pulling away. HVAC is a complex system to install but once it it running it is pretty simple.
I advise doing a little research and finding a local tecnician to help you with emergency service. Establish a relationship now, have your system checked every few years and whatever you do not deal with Yellow Dot. If they would have been close to fair, or if their technician would have looked somewhat professional I could let it slide. But in my business they are a dime a dozen, there are better companies, just turn on a fan if your a.c. goes out and read some reviews before you make a call.
It will save you in the end. Also get familiar with your unit, if you do have it checked out, order a couple capacitors online to keep with your light bulbs. Getting them when you need them is difficult but when you have some handy it can save you in the long run.
