When you arrive home after a long hot day at work, school, or other daily activity, the last thing on your mind is your home cooling and heating system. Why should it be? All you expect of your air conditioning equipment is to keep you cool, and do it at a reasonable cost. Somewhere in that equation also is the fact that you would really like it to last as long as possible before you have to change it. The network of air ducts that are trying to help you stay cool are located in a 140 degree attic. An air conditioning system in southwest Florida can account for 50-60% of the total electric bill.

There are three different areas of service in the cooling business. Maintenance, Repair, and Replacement. Maintenance is the most economical method to keep your power bills at a minimum, prevent expensive breakdown repairs, and extend the equipment life to prolong changing it prematurely. Service or repair is the next level. It costs more because it needs a higher skill level on the part of the technician. The call usually include parts. The air conditioning service call is usually placed when it is extremely hot, after normal business hours or on a weekend. Service calls are known as demand type calls. Finally the equipment becomes so costly that replacing it makes more sense. For most people, the home comfort system is the most expensive appliance in the home. Taking good care of the cooling and heating equipment from day one makes sense if you have ever had to repair or replace one.
