Went with this company based on reviews and I wasn't disappointed. When Ralph came out, I just KNEW I could trust him. He explained everything in detail, checked and double checked his work. Didn't try to oversell. He mentioned that the unit is old and will need replaced eventually but, wasn't pushy about it. Prompt. Respectful. Professional. The cost was slightly less than what I expected. Will definitely hire again if need be. THANKS RALPH!

Ray N. Welter Heating is an excellent company to work with. When we had trouble with our furnace, we initially called another company to take a look at it. The guy they sent out took a pair of tin snips and cut the back off the furnace (without doing any preliminary diagnostics and without asking my permission). Then he told me we had a cracked heat exchanger (scam alert) and told me we could all die of carbon monoxide poisoning (mega-scam alert).

He recommended we buy a new furnace, as the old one wasn't worth repairing. I told him we might decide to buy a new furnace, but it wouldn't be from his company. I know enough about physics to understand the "cracked heat exchanger" scare tactic. It's a very old scam. I patched up the back of the furnace with foil tape and went online to find a better company.

We called Welter based on good reviews (plus, my wife likes their television commercials). We talked with them about options and eventually decided it would be a good idea to replace our 30-year-old furnace with a new, high-efficiency model. They installed both our furnace and our central air conditioner. When we had trouble with the air conditioner they came out and repaired the problem under warranty so there was no cost to us. Ralph C. even took the time to thoroughly clean the outdoor unit. It's nice to find a company that's knowledgable and honest. Highly recommended.

I'm finishing my basement and had these guys come out and add ducts and supply/return vents. They quickly fit me in for an estimate and ultimately on their schedule. It was all done in a day and they even helped me out with a small task I tried doing and couldn't finish myself. They were very knowledgeable and asked the right questions to make sure I was getting what I wanted and didn't assume anything.

I will definitely be calling them again when their services are needed again! Since this review we have had them out to our place to tune up the AC as well as repair a bad motor. They fit us in sooner when they have cancellations and are always on time and knowledgeable. Call them!

They paid attention to the details when they installed our new AC unit. The unit looks great, it is a high quality Trane and their cost was lower then the competition. Other places sent a guy out to shmooze us for an hour and a half using every sales trick in the book, to give us quotes that were on average $800 more for crappier units. These guys quoted us over the phone on 30 seconds.

And they were super punctual, called us back when they said they would each time and confirmed the appointment the day before with a quick call. Couldn't have had a better experience, and it was the best value for sure. If we ever need our furnace replaced we will call these guys first.

I've seen their commercial on TV asking to give them a shot at providing an estimate. So I called and left a message with salesperson Rick; never heard back. Call the next day, leave another message with salesperson Rick and Todd or Tom. Still no call back. So I called Standard Heating and they seemed more eager for my business, so they got my money instead.

It seems Welter Heating is just wasting money on TV commercials. Rick and Tom called me to apologize for not responding in a prompt manner after seeing this post, so that's cool.

Welter's Heating Company is a very family -oriented company and a company that treats you like their best neighbor! We've used them for previous repairs as well as for AC and furnace purchases. Reasonably priced. Were kind, considerate and diligent problem solvers. Service was fast. Even received 2 space heaters to carry us over the weekend. Very prompt, experienced and high quality installation. Exceeded our expectations!

Ray N Welter certainly has our business for the foreseeable future! We had a another company come out to look at furnace that was acting up. We had been behind on changing air filter and heater would stop and start (we changed filter and things improved but were not fixed). This other company stated we had a bad heat exchanger, would have CO leaking into house, and recommended a new $7,800 furnace. Said the part could be replaced but is not worth it.

We called Ray N Welter following a positive review from a family member. Technician came out and did diagnostic testing (other company did not) and showed that gas pressure was high but all other systems were operating properly. He adjusted gas pressure and provided info that the furnace did get hot when filter was clogged but is not in need of replacement at this time. He provided recommended filter replacement intervals. He left without charging us for this second opinion. We will definitely call first next time we have an issue!

We had a great experience with Welter heating. They replaced our AC & Furnace. Multiple other vendors provided either inflated estimates or inaccurate information on what our options were for our HVAC system before I found them. Their sales people were not pushy, they explained everything in a way that didn't leave me confused and they were able to work around the constraints of our home.

The installers were on time, respectful and thorough and again explained what was done, why it was done and how. We are very happy with the new system and the service provided.

Their drivers apparently don't know you aren't supposed to park in front of hydrants or right in front of stop signs in Northeast Minneapolis

Appreciate that after the work was done they adjusted the bill downward to reflect what was actually needed. That is honest work

We live nearby and decided to call Ray N. Welter after our old central AC (30+ years old) stopped working in the middle of a stretch of brutally high temps. Rick was able to provide me a quote almost instantly and was able to get me on the calendar quickly. Extremely easy and fast! The pricing was also fair and a great value considering the unit and other equipment that was installed.

The new central AC install went off without a hitch and the new unit works great! Do not bother looking anywhere else- Ray N. Welter is a local, family-owned company who does it better than anyone else with straight forward and fair pricing. Thank you!

Do not call anyone else! These guys are the best. They installed our AC and were honest, reliable, and provided the best equipment at the best prices. And no slimey sales tactics. When our furnace blows we will for sure call Welters. Also they left a little gift basket after completing the install, which was just SO classy. Services: Thermostat installation, AC installation

Do yourself a favor, especially if you are a female, and skip this company. They are very condescending to potential customers, especially women. They refuse to tell you what equipment they plan to install and when you ask for more information they scream at you. The owner actually told me he didn't care if they got new customers since he liked his current ones who don't ask too many questions, ! I'm so glad I went with a friendlier more informative company instead of getting sucked into any more dealings with these awful people. They also overcharge by a lot.

I can't say enough about this company and how great they are. My family was in need of a furnace do to a cracked heat exchange and Ray N. Welter stepped up to helped us out. I personally work in the trades as a plumber and have been around other companies and seen the work, I can truly say Ray N. Welter is second to none. The technicians where on time, Professional, cleaned everything up, high quality work with attention to detail, and great fallow up afterwards. I would suggest Ray N. Welter to anyone looking for heating and air.

My furnace quit working overnight. I called them around 9am, and the tech was out at my house around 11am. The problem was fixed within 30 minutes. The tech wore a mask (which I really appreciated), and was courteous and professional. I would definitely use them again. I was really happy with the fast turnaround.

They did a wonderful job for us. Scheduling was easy. They were very responsive and communicative. We had Ralph out to do the work and he did a great job. He was very nice and very knowledgeable. We had him fix some Nest thermostat and zoning issues we had. He also did a full check and tuning of our AC and heat. And most importantly, he hooked up our gas for an outdoor firepit and grill. I would highly recommend using this company.

I am very happy with this company from start to finish. They have a very good reputation and now I see why. When we found out our furnace was shot I called Ray N.Welter (and a few others) for a bid and Rick came out the next day. It was during our first cold snap and 9 inches of snow so these guys were busy! In October no less! Rick was not in a hurry, took his time explaining what we needed and what we didn't and also what he thought we should have.

I appreciated that. The day of installation the tech (Pete) was here right on time (7:30). He was very friendly, courteous, and professional and went right to work. At 1:20 Pete let me know he was finished and gave me a brief explanation of the new furnace, air filtration system, and new thermostat. All the old parts and materials were picked up and he even added a new PVC line to the drain replacing the old garden hose. All the boxes are checked at a very competitive price! So thanks guys, we appreciate it.

Can't say enough about this company. Our furnace wasn't blowing out any heat and of course this happened when it was minus degrees outside, so we had quite the cold house all night. The next morning I called a different company and was on hold for ten minutes, I finally hung up and called Welter Ray next and thankfully they answered right away.

They had someone out here within two hours! Glad I called early because I'm sure it's a busy time with the extremely cold weather. Ended up just being a dirty sensor and needed to be cleaned off. Within twenty minutes we had heat again. I'm so thankful for their honesty about the easy fix and that they didn't try and scam us by saying is a bigger and more expensive issue like a lot of other companies do sometimes.

It's such a relief to have a heating company that really feels like they're looking out for you rather than just trying to sell you stuff for a short-term boost. Welter has helped us out twice this year, and both times their technicians figured out a straightforward way to get our furnace up and running again. The second time, a tech called me on a Sunday afternoon to diagnose the problem FOR FREE and tell me how to fix it myself—it was well below freezing and they could have made hundreds of overtime dollars off of us, but the tech very generously told me I could probably tackle this myself then explained how to get to the tricky part that wasn't working right.

He then insisted I call back—again, over the weekend—to tell him how it went. The employees I've dealt with have always been kind, knowledgable and endlessly helpful. I get that sometimes it's expensive to fix this stuff, but Welter has earned my loyalty 10 times over—based on my experience so far, if they tell you it's the only way, you can take their word for it. If you're nervous—like we were—about an HVAC company taking advantage of you, call Welter and never worry again.

We just bought a new house and we're having issues with the thermostat. No matter what we set it at, the AC will not shut off. So when we wake up in the morning it's 50 some degrees. My husband wanted to install the Nest thermostat, which we had at our previous home. This house didn't have the right wiring, so we wanted someone to check out the AC and install the Nest for us.

I saw this company had great reviews, so we called. It was the weekend, so we got the after hours staff. They said weekends are only for emergencies and someone would call us on Monday. No one called Monday, so my husband tried on Tuesday. He left another message. Nothing. He tried one last time on Thursday, was out on hold and the line was disconnected.

He called again and was finally put through. The guy told my husband he wasn't "interested" in our business and had no desire to install a Nest. He said he's too busy and maybe try again in the fall. I get that they are busy with this terrible heat, but 1. You could've returned our messages. 2. You could've just said you were busy and would have to schedule out pretty far.

What business isn't "interested" in making money? His response was very rude. No way we will try again in the fall. We will find someone else to take our money to figure out why the AC won't shut off. Thanks for nothing

If you need superior service this is your company! We were in Florida experiencing our first year as "snowbirds" when our furnace (in Bloomington) stopped working. Rick Welter personally took our call and not only sent a technician to our cold home, but checked on it for the next two days until our new heating unit could be properly installed. Phenomenal service! In addition to the great service, their pricing was very competitive. I highly recommend this company for all of your heating or A/C needs!

Our furnace started failing on us during those terribly cold negative double digit frigid winter weeks in MN where your start asking yourself simply, why do I live here? This company was friendly, understanding and promptly came out to diagnose and help with our furnace troubles. The provided large electric heaters to help us as they persevered in trying to fix our furnace multiple times and when that failed they were honest in replacement being our best option.

Our case wasn't easy and neither were we but this company outshined all others we worked with (both Standard and Hero) and proved to provide superior customer service, honesty and pricing. I highly recommend their services to anyone in the metro area needing heating or cooling services.

Ray Welter to the rescue! January 2nd wake up to an inside temp of 40 and 5 outside! Brrrr. Even though the website said they didn't open until 8am, I called at 7:45. Cheerful guy answers, has a repairman here by 8:45, determined the part that was needed, left to pick it up and to cut to the chase, furnace back on by 10. I've recommended them before (new A/C unit a few years back), but wanted to say once again how great they are. Thank you Ray Welter!

These guys werey second call when my furnace stopped working properly. The first company I used sent a tech out who said the furnace needed to be replaced, and gave me a quote, but said he "jiggled a wire" and got it running again for the time being. When it went out again the other day, I called Ray N. Welter. Their tech, Ralph, fixed the problem in half an hour.

He told me the furnace is pretty old, but his fix should get me through the winter "and maybe a couple more, " and then gave me a quote that was lower than the first company. These guys are rad.

Based on the good Yelp reviews, I called Ray Welter Heating and Cooling to come out for an estimate on a new central air unit because our older unit had a leak and the repair, as well as replacing the R-22 refrigerant, was becoming cost prohibitive. Ray Welter sent a salesman Todd to give us an estimate on a replacement. He discovered that they weren't able to replace the coils due to the brand and size of our current unit, and he didn't try to sell us into replacing unnecessary parts.

He was honest and professional. Even though he couldn't sell us anything, he still came outside to take a look at our outdoor unit. He got us setup with a bit more Freon to get the house cooled while we figure out next steps. Thank you, Todd! You are an angel!

I'm a fan for life. I was really bummed to have a tech from another unnamed heating/cooling place come to our place not once but twice in a month. First time for a tune up/check (only to tell me that there were no critical updates, but a few options to make my AC unit more efficient. Cheapest "fix" he gave me was over 500 bucks). A few weeks later, the AC unit starts making terrifying noises.

Different tech from same aforementioned place comes out (charging another 90 bucks for a visit). Tells me there are "no viable repairs" for the old unit (it's 28 yrs old and not worth fixing.why didn't the first guy tell me that?), it's not safe to be running it, and I should replace it. Quotes out a basic, mid level, and high end unit - cheapest option being over 5K.

I did a little google searching and found that median price for replacing an AC unit in my zipcode is between 3-5K (what? And I dont' have a huge house. SURELY I can't be on the tippy top end of that scale). I decided to bid out the services by calling a few places. Ray Welter responded quickly, had someone out the very next day to look at the current set up and bid out the project.

They came in over 2K cheaper on the mid level unit than the other company FOR A BETTER UNIT. What?! Loved the professionalism of the sales person, and loved that everything was crystal clear for pricing. He even told me it probably wasn't worth getting the high end unit -- he'd recommend the basic or mid for my size house (that's what he would do).

We got an additional 10% off for paying by check plus a mail in rebate for the SEER efficiency from the electric company. We had a brand new AC unit installed and humming away by the following Monday (when the 90+ degree weather hit!). All in all - I trust Ray Welter. They are honest, efficient, respectful of my time, and thorough. When I challenged the first company on their pricing, they told me you get what you pay for.

I guess that's true. If I would have picked them - I would have been getting ripped off! Thanks Ray Welter! I really hope I don't need to call you for a new AC for a LONG TIME, but if I do -- I know I can trust the advice you give me.

My house needed a new central air conditioner and furnace. I randomly selected Ray N. Welter (along with four other companies) to come out and provide me with a quote. Out of the five, the guy who came out from Ray N. Welter was the most helpful. He even insisted that we didn't need the more expensive cooling unit because my house wasn't that big so it wouldn't take that much to heat and cool it.

One of the other companies that came out showed us their most expensive units first, and my husband felt like that person was more of a salesman than someone who actually knew what we needed. Ray N. Welter's prices are comparable to other companies that do the same thing. On the day of the installation, three guys came around 8AM and had everything completed by 4PM.

Two of the big reasons we went with them were 1) great customer service, 2) we had to finance this as it was a big purchase and they offer no interest for the first 15 months. They were also very helpful when I had questions on the payment plan. I would highly recommend this company. They're also local so that's an added bonus.

I had Welter install my AC system and so far, so good! They are really nice people and retain that old-school attempt to connect with you personally as they are a time-tested family business. They sent at least three guys to install and test my AC and they were forthcoming about information and updates. They got the work done quickly, too, like half a day.

I worked with Rick Welter regarding the estimate, sizing of the AC and payment and all went very smoothly, on down to getting the rebate with Xcel Energy figured out. No complaints, and I know if I do have one they'll come out and fix it. The inspector noted that Welter did a good job, which he expects because the contractors know he'll bust them for any infractions or shoddy workmanship!

Installed a new Trane furnace and AC system. Told me when the took my payment that it would take only one day. Installer (only one sent for all the work needed) told me at noon it would take the second day. I called the shop and they sent out a second person to finish up. They agreed to connect my humidifier, they only partially did it. System was not fully tested when they left. Airflow was never checked.

There is not enough air flow to move the cold air, it sits in the lower levels. I asked about them connecting the humidifier and setting the fan higher, they would do it, but would charge me for the service. I spent over $7 grand and they want to charge me to set it up right? I was able to do the additional work myself.

I almost gave four stars on the review due to a tech who promised to be here yesterday between 9 and noon didn't show and did not call until 12:20 to let us know they were not going to make it because of bad weather. [which we had all day] However, today's technician was very prompt knowledgeable and professional. He called this morning and showed up on time to repair our A/C.

There was a simple fix to our issue which involved cleaning coils, resetting the unit and what not. He had the right tools for the job with him and he checked over the whole system. He explained what he was doing as he worked and discussed with us how to maintain our unit going forward which I really appreciate. This guy definitely came off as a professional and great representative for the company which we will use again in the future.
