Services
In 1918, Corbin Fuel Co., Inc. opened its doors as a family owned business located on Ellendale Street in Bel Air, MD. In the old days, we were known as Corbin Ice Company and kept our neighbors' ice cold and fires burning. As wood and coal gave way to petroleum products in the 1930s, we added oil tankers to our fleet of ice wagons and began the transition into the future.
How do you know when I need an oil delivery? Corbin Fuel Company has invested in state of the art computer software that allows us to accurately predict oil delivery schedules. Forecasting tracks the daily weather and coordinates that information with information on your individual usage characteristics, like size of your home, age of equipment, how your hot water is heated, etc. We calculate a usage factor that suits your requirements, so we can ensure you will never have to deal with the inconvenience of running out of oil.
Corbin Fuel can manage your commercial fuel requirements so you can manage your business more efficiently. Whether it's construction or warehousing, we will provide you the best quality products and services, all tailored to meet your fueling requirements. Whether you call or we come on a set schedule, we can deliver to meet your business' individual needs.

Chuck and Adam installed a new furnace yesterday and did a remarkable job. The ductwork had to be redesigned and it makes a tremendous difference in the air flow. They left the basement as clean as it was before the job. It's a pleasure working with friendly and conscientious people. Thanks for a job well done!

Called Corbin today because my oil furnace was constantly shutting down. Tom the Corbin Technician was at our home within the hour. Tom was very knowledgeable, professional and also personable. Tom did a thorough inspection/testing and found several parts that likely were causing my furnace to fail. He replaced these parts and explained what each part did. Definitely 5 star service! Thank you both Tom and Corbin!

I decided to have Corbin do a maintenance check on my furnace. Tom Galpin was my technician. Tom took the time to explain what he was checking and why. He also pointed out the important parts on how the furnace works and what to look for in the future. I can't say enough good things about the service he provided. Thank you for your valuable insight with helping me stay warm this winter.

Yesterday we awoke to a cold house; our furnace wasn't working. It was 59 degrees inside. We called Corbin Fuel; in TWENTY MINUTES we had a repairman at our door. Mr Tom Galpin was the gentleman who serviced our furnace. We can't possibly say enough to describe how very very happy we were with him. Delightful, polite, informative & efficient, and we had heat in 30 minutes! Thank you, Corbin Fuel & Mr Galpin. The Koch's, Kurt & Karen

I would like to thank Tom for a great job of fixing our furnace. He spent hours checking and rechecking wiring until he found the problem. Not a small job, he kept on trying. Most would have given up and called from help. We have had many techs over the years and Tom is by far the best. Corbin thank you.

We have been using Corbin since 2012 and have been very satisfied. We have received great customer service and they have been very responsive. We had an issue with a strong propane smell after a delivery and they sent a service tech out within a few hours to check everything out. Ended up being a non-issue. Thanks!

We stopped using them several years ago because I was so tired of dealing with rude customer service reps. In the past couple of years, we've gotten a few oil deliveries from them on demand because of competitive prices. However, we're currently having a furnace emergency, and even after I told the customer service rep on call (who is, ironically, named Sherry) that it's 53 degrees in the house, she basically told me too bad, since we're not regular customers, they don't care. Charming.
Will absolutely never use them again, even if they're giving away oil for free. Edited to add my reply to their response, which was: Response from the owner 49 minutes ago Good Afternoon. As you know we do not service non-customers. We are too busy serving regular customers to take on any other business in the winter. If you stopped using us for our bad service I cannot understand why you would call us back, and then complain about it?
We hope you had your no heat issue resolved. I am posting my reply to them here because I can't see where I can do so: If you had bothered to read my full review (sorry, "complaint" per your language), you would have seen that we have gotten recent oil deliveries because of competitive rates. What I should have noted--so thank you for calling me out on this--is that I had wanted to give the company a second chance because of those lower rates. This was part of that. So lesson learned, thank you for making it clear that I should not have done so.

I had a really bad experience with Corbin today. i tried to make a appointment a few days ago only to find out they do not make appointments. In total disregard for customer time, they expect you to wait all day for them to get there. Quite unfair and inconsiderate of customers. They falsely claim same service but I drove 69 miles to help out a long time christian friend, only to be told they could not come out today.
I told them I thought my friend had a contract, the male person perhaps Bob rudely yelled at me and said she did not have a service contact. i told him not to yell at me and he quickly apologized. Bob said he thought I had a plumbing problem rather than a boiler problem. When I told him I drove 69 miles out there, he agreed to " put me on the schedule. ".
I called them back to ask a simple question and bob said He still thought I would be better off letting Straight Plumbing look at it. After thinking about it a few minutes, I asked them again if it is a boiler problem can a plumber fix it. Only then did Austin come on the line and say that the guy from Straight plumbing could fix any problems. If they would have stated this before, this would have helped immensely.
When the guy from Straight Plumbing came, he proceeded to tell me that Corbin, said that " I was trying to get it covered under warranty.". This was an outrageous lie and this says a lot about the culture at Corbin. They should not be lying about customers! Even talking about customers to others is quiet unprofessional. NOTE: The property owner left me a check made out to Corbin with the amount not stated.
I realize that most service contracts rarely cover components that break. The Only reason I mentioned the service contract was because most give you priority status. My opinion is that Corbin's negative reviews are well earned. I have a extremely negative view of this company and I strongly suggest you go elsewhere. I deleted them from my phone log and I will never call them again.
I remain upset with the unpleasant and unprofessional way I was treated. Again, my opinion is that these people are rude and unprofessional. Please Read the other reviews and you will see a disturbing pattern of the lack of professionalism and ethics. Do yourself a favor and call a reputable company which demonstrates that they value customers.

We had Corbin for about a year. In November 2018, we asked them to deliver oil and they could not deliver due to a storm. We needed oil as our tank was nearly empty. So I called another delivery service and called Corbin to cancel our service. On the call with Corbin, they confirmed our service was cancelled effective immediately. In three days after that call, Corbin came out and delivered over 700 gallons of fuel according to their invoice.
Our tank only holds 330 gallons. We called to complain. We reiterated that we cancelled our service; that our tank only holds 330 gallons and was not completely empty. They denied any phone call cancelling service. I let them know I would not pay the $1900 bill. So, they filed a lien and a court hearing is pending. I signed no contract. I offered to pay $500 as a good faith gesture but they would not accept. I can prove the size of my tank. Just unbelievable. Another person had a similar complaint that I found on BBB. This is an unfair trade practice.

Have used Corbin oil x 3 years and have no complaint. We get the service plan annually and get our furnace cleaned. For the past few years we've had a friendly older gentleman. This year, Adam came to service our unit. He gave us some tips that have significantly changed our life when it comes to hot water reaching the upstairs master bath! Seriously, life changing : Thank you to the Corbin team and to Adam especially!

Disappointed again. We used Corbin for years as they installed the furnace that came with the house, and their Technicians seemed knowledgeable and friendly. In 2018 we started to have increasingly worse problems with getting good service with them, even though we had a Service Contract and had always paid our bills in full at time of service. The straw that broke the camel's back was when they started to diagnose issues over the phone, and then refused to send Technicians out unless we called a 3rd party plumber to Pre-diagnose problems, costing us extra time and money beyond an already expensive contract.
Two years have passed and I decided it was time to give them a second chance. The boiler had a simple, non-emergency leak. Fixing it could have also repaired our relationship and regained a customer. Unbelievably, they said they wouldn't even diagnose the problem as we don't buy their oil. To clarify, they won't do any service what-so-ever unless you first contract with them for season-long oil delivery. I'll admit that I could have been a little more cordial with the Representative on the phone, but I was truly flabbergasted. Forcing me to purchase their overpriced product just so I can pay more money for a sketchy service contract is not only absurd, it's unAmerican.
What if my Auto Mechanic refused to service my car because I didn't buy their brand of gas, or my Dentist because I didn't buy their brand of toothpaste?! I understand a requirement to purchase a certain quality of oil to meet warranty requirements, but to exclude me from even a simple service call unless I buy products only from Corbin is silly, and possibly illegal. Needless to say, this will be my last interaction with Corbin.
Even if the furnace bursts into flame and they offer to fix it for free, they will not be getting a third opportunity. And I recommend you don't use their services either unless you enjoy being treated shabbily while paying top dollar for service and products.

This is my only negative review that I have ever written about any company. My wife and I were referred to Corbin a couple years ago. All was well until we called to change our credit card after our first year being with them. We had to call back 3 separate times to change it(they do not have online billing) and it still did not get changed. After failing to put our card on file for a 3rd time, our bill started to grow as the old card was shut off of auto pay and the new one was still not on file.
Instead of calling us to let us know (they had both our numbers on file) our bill was past due, the bill built up for months and they ended up sending a collections agency after us without making a single call to let us know. This was the most disappointing customer experience I have ever received. Proceed with caution.

Our experience with Corbin is far less than stellar. We are a new customer who pays bills promptly. First, they replaced a part on an appliance that then malfunctioned and caused thousands of dollars in damage to our home. Mistakes can happen to anyone, but when we brought the issue to their attention, there was no recognition of their error in judgment.
Big insurance claim for us, with no responsibility assumed by Corbin. We are new to the area with few good options for home services, so we gave them another try. This time they fixed two thirds of the problems we were having and after being paid, they forgot us. We had to call them back to fix the remaining third. In our experience, Corbin is expensive and they do shoddy work. They simply refuse to make appointments. We are looking for another service provider.

I have been with Corbin for 2.5 years, ever since I bought a house with an oil burner I compared several and Corbin seemed to be choicet, but there were several good alternatives. One factor was they handled both heating oil and propane, some didn't handle propane. I told Corbin that part of my reason for selecting them was that my father in law had been with them 50 years.
So they sent him a $100 credit. My furnace has stopped twice and they were there within hours Last time a trace on one of the PC boards burnt through. The tech told me he could replace the $250 part which he had on the truck or could solder over the trace, which would be stronger than factory. He only charged $35 for the solddering and guranateed the work.
That really surprised me. Tom has been out for both repair jobs and I ask for him now. I haven't compared fuel oil prices lately. I read the post about the billing mix up. A few weeks after I moved, I noticed my trash cans were missing. The Trash company had changed my pick up address to the new house but were still crediting my payments to my old house.
So they had me down as delinquent and came and got their cans. I wasn't happy, but things like that happen. Twice would be an issue. Billing with corbin has been smooth. They leave a delievery ticket so I know to look for a bill in a few days.

Customer service has not serviced any issues other then to talk over me and abruptly stop my fuel delivery 2 times in 3 months. A bill was 34 days late. Another was 60 days late. Guess what? They lost one of the payments and credited a completely different client with my credit. Took care of that. Done. Fill tank. Then most recent update, another bill 30 days past and I call. they refuse to deliver, go over policies that are set.
I did get angered, they call me a threatening client. Tell me they are pulling my tank ASAP. Bad service. No patience. Piss you off and then hang you out to dry. These guys are TOO BIG for their britches. The ONE STAR is bc the delivery service is not bad. Those delivery people are clean and fast. Never tear up the yard or block off driveway. True pros but the office and upper level management can eat it.

This company has poor communication skills and do not listen to their customers concerns or needs. On multiple occasions, we contacted Corbin fuel to address delivery dates only to have our phone calls ignored. When we finally reached someone, the call center stated that they could not give us specific delivery date: only the week that they plan to delivery.
We called 3 weeks prior to our actual need for fuel to make sure that we did not run out. The week that Corbin was supposed to deliver, we again reached out to them inquiring about a specific delivery date. They again, did not return our phone call. We called the next day, finally reaching the call center. The gentleman stated that the truck would be out "today" but could not specify when the truck would deliver the fuel. "Sometime before 4pm." he stated.
We explained that we are a special needs family and needed a call ahead at least 1 hour before delivery. The call center stated, "we cannot do that. We do not know where our trucks are during the day." Another red flag about this company is that you want to make sure that you call them before delivery to ensure they have accurate information. When we originally called to set up our service, we explained that we wanted a one time delivery as we do not use that much fuel.
Throughout the very disrespectful conversation with the call center, they told us "you are on an automatic delivery and will receive delivery once a month." When we re-iterated that we did not have a contract with an automatic delivery, the gentleman said "well that changes everything and we cannot deliver to you today." This company left our family, with special needs scrambling to find another company that could provide fuel after SEVERAL attempts to communicate with them.
It was NOT because we waited until the last minute to call for a re-fill of our tanks-it was due to the lack of professionalism, organization and communication on their end. If we had not called that morning, we would have had a unannounced delivery and would have entered into a contract that we did not authorize. This company has snake like attributes and cannot be trusted.

Corbin is awesome. They have been my fuel provider and oil burner service company for 5 years, and have been 100% helpful always. They never let me even get close to running out of fuel, they take wonderful care of my furnace, and fix anything and everything that ever goes awry. I get immediate service, and the men who do the work are friendly and professional.
When I started with their service, I had a 30 yr old furnace that wound up needing help in February during an ice storm. They came on a Sunday night and brought it back to life. Now I have a newer furnace, and they keep it up and running. They are the best.

Great Job! A few weeks ago I had an underground propane tank installed. I was so worried about what my lawn would look like after the install. They not only did a fantastic job, they even put down grass seed and straw. I know there job was only to install the tank but the extra steps that the crew made makes me a life time customer. I hope Corbin Fuel will recognize these employees for their great work.

After breaking free from the unethical company of amerigas. I went to Corbin. Two words, Customer Service. I can not say enough good about this company. If you are looking for another fuel provider, give Corbin a call. A local company that takes care of the local people. Not like amerigas in which you are just another account.

We have been a customer for the last 4 years and always noticed the price for oil slightly higher than our friends and neighbors, but since we had a service contract, we decided to stay a loyal customer. Well, that ended today. Not only have we payed a service contract fee for the last 4 years, the prior home owner also payed a contract for many years. SO the reason for our cancellation is that Corbin Fuel never provided preventive maintenance (cleaning) for our furnace as part of the contract.
When I call today to schedule our cleaning that we payed for they told me they could not because we should have scheduled our cleaning the last contract year. Corbin Fuel never called to remind us of the cleaning that was due or sent a notice to notify the customer to schedule a cleaning. The best part, when talking with a manager, I believe his name was John, he notified me that when we receive the renewal notice for the contract it says to schedule your service. Luckily for me I was holding the renewal and.nope. Not on there. So when I asked him if he was sure what he is telling me is true, he said he couldn't speak to that. He's not sure. Shysters. Stay away.
